How far is strut pin supposed to lower into knuckle?

I had my front shocks done and there is a pin on the strut that is aligned with the knuckle gap, but just over the top of the knuckle flange (not actually inserted into the gap). Is this the correctly set up? G20 330i

thats not correct. it should sit down in the slot. the strut should protrude from the bottom of the clamp a little bit.
