Tire brand recommendations
Hey guys, it’s almost time for me to get new tires so I’m wondering if you could share your feedback about brands/tires you like. I currently have Michelin PS/AS4. Only looking at all seasons because I’m from the Midwest and the weather is crazy here(-20 with wind chill up to 90) thinking about trying Pirelis Pzero AS+3 or Continental DWS06+
Thanks |

Bridgestone DriveGuard+ AS RFT can be another option to consider. This tire is designed to be an aftermarket replacement for non-RFT, it is relatively quiet and smooth for a RFT, and its stiff sidewalls help with handling too.

I had great experience with Continental DWS06+, had been using them on most my cars, except for M3 and they are great for dry, wet and some snow(we do not get much of snow lately in DC area) Also, they are on the softer side, but cornering and traction is still good. The main reason I like them is combination of comfort and traction and another great bonus, as they wear they do not make more noise and stay quiet.

I do not run DWS on m3 or M340, my experience with DWS is on MB C350, 245 rear 225 front and BMW 535 245 square setup.

I bought General Gmax go-flats all around when I bought my M340, and they feel way better than the stock run-flats. They have great traction and are overall great tires that are pretty inexpensive. I've had Conti DWS06 in the past and liked those as well.

How about getting a dedicated set of winter wheels and tires? I live in Northern IL and we get enough snow that it was worth it for me.
You are farther North so I imagine you get more than I do. I put the winters on the OEM rims and got a nice set of wheels for summer. |

I have the Yokohama Advan Sport A/S+ on the 2020 330i with a non-staggered 19” setup and the Falken Azenis FK460 A/S on the 2023 M340i with a staggered 19” setup. Both are significantly better in terms of grip and ride comfort over the stock Bridgestone RFTs. I think fuel economy did take a minor hit with both, but overall a much better daily experience.

Im due to replace mine within a few weeks and I narrowed it down to either Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 or Continental DSW06 Plus
I purchased a tire plug kit, portable compressor and scissor jack. Im moving away from run flat tires.. |

1) Pirelli's on these cars are subpar compared to their Michelin counterparts - if you want a good summer tire then get the non-RFT MPS4S.
2) If you do decide to stick with a different brand, ditch the RFTs asap. They ride harsh and are expensive to replace. I don't understand why BMW still puts this garbo on their cars. If I was living in the middle of nowhere, I might consider it to get me to a safe destination in the event of a flat, but if you are anywhere near civilization most of the time, then non-RFT's all the way. |

I think Pirelli gets a bad rep because the stock P7 runflats BMW uses are really bad, unreliable runflat tires. Sidewall bulges and sidewall blowouts are very common.
I’ve had go-flat Pirelli P Zero’s on other cars and they were good. I’m wondering if Pirelli’s realizes how much these flaky P7’s are affecting the overall brand reputation. |

I've had the Pilot Sport AS4's on several cars. The only thing they do wrong is wear out...

I second this. Had them twice in my previous X5. Each set lasted 65-70k miles and still had great treads/peformance. Alignment and rotation (if non staggered) are key!
