2025 orders - how's the B58 TU2 engine?
I know they just started arriving but I’m dying to know. What’s the verdict on the TU2? Any of you have previous experience with the B58 and can comment on any differences in power, smoothness, etc.?

Don't have mine yet, but there was some commotion on YouTube about potential reliability issues. My .02 from reading through another BMW forum is that it was a select batch of bad parts.
On the other hand, I've read some positive things about the TU2, as well. All in all, it should be a slight upgrade from what I can gather - tough to improve on something that close to perfect. |

No one in the U.S. has taken delivery, or at least no one on the forum. Most are a few weeks out at minimum, presuming no delays.

Really? I took delivery of a 2025 M440i coupe in May with the B58 TU2 engine. The engine has been terrific, very impressed (and this is my 8th BMW since 2003).

Please elaborate on your experience with the B58 TU2. What impresses you? Was your last vehicle equipped with a prior iteration of the B58? Is it your daily driver or a leisure/weekend vehicle? What fuel economy are you experiencing? Which engine cover did you receive? If not an M Sport exhaust equipped M440i, does your exhaust have OPF filters? Does your vehicle have a charcoal filter in addition to the paper filter? Have you done any modifications or running stock? |

Answering above - Also have a 2022 X3 M40i and the 2025 4 series coupe's B58 TU2 seems to have a bit more punch down low (M440i has a lower curb weight than the X3, so some of it could be power/weight ratio) and is even smoother than the previous B58. Daily driver, MPG of about 22 (mixed city and highway). Regular engine cover, not an "M version". Standard exhaust. Have no idea on OPF filters or charcoal filters. Only mods/changes: M perf floor mats, Michelin PS4S summer tires (replaced run flats).

Early engine covers on the 2025 M440 lacked the M logo, not the case now. I didi a bunch of research and have seen the attached in a showroom myself last month |

The shell is exactly the same on both covers. The obvious differences being BMW versus the M logo and the use of faux carbon fiber versus textured plastic. They are merely inserts on the same cover. Unfortunately BMW pulled them from the M340i. Last edited by dba1t; 10-05-2024 at 10:12 PM.. |

[QUOTE=dba1t;31527708]Good, I am glad M440i owners are getting a proper engine cover.

Did anyone tried to install 440 strut bars on 340? Looks like there is a space to do it. Strut is only $45 each and it could add additional rigidity between strut towers.

[QUOTE=dba1t;31529278]When did you receive it? You must have been one of the first as everyone on the M340 build thread is saying no one has gotten a car yet.
Just found this pic at a dealer near me. Seems they did the same with the early deliver 3's as they did 4's. This one has M badging, but it's just come into stock. I'd talk to the dealer and ask them to have BMW send you a proper engine cover gratus. |

I took delivery on September 23, as part of the first batch of U.S. east coast deliveries via the Glovis Champion. A few 2025 deliveries were ahead of me. |

https://www.bmwnorwood.com/inventory...9ft06s8f01608/ It's why I suggested you ask your dealer to go back to BMW and ask for a new cover. BMW did the same thing with the early 4's then changed to this cover. I've seen it with my own eyes... |

PS: I was part of the first delivery with plain cover and no strut bars, even with ZTK. |
