Entering Tyre Settings on ID8

I’ve just fitted a set of 20” 795M wheels to a M340d. When driving for the first time it detected a tyre change and prompted me to update the tyre settings.

I tried the auto detection, but that failed. Then tried to manually input them but there’s only options for 18” and 19” wheels, with any other sizes requiring ‘special authorisation’.

Is anyone else running 20’ wheels and have the same message and is this something that needs to be authorised/actioned by a dealer? I know in some markets the cars can be spec’s with 795M wheels.

Cheers,

That setting basically just means "none of the above"

Now that's sorted can we get some pics of the new rims on the car please?

... and you need to come back in a month and tell us how you are getting on with them.

My idrive 7 lets you select 20’’ as an option along with 18 and 19.

Maybe changed between idrive 7 and 8?

It’ll definitely need a set of lowering springs, I’ll get them fitted and post a couple of photos. They came with Pirelli P Zero RFs, I always put eagle F1 RFs on, so any change in feel will likely be down to that.

I imagine they’ll be a nightmare to clean.

It’s due a service soon, so I’ll query it with the tech. I know they can scan the tyres and enter them electronically, so that may open up some additional options.

If they have a QR code on you may be in luck, otherwise the dealer will probably just pick the "special authorisation" option.

Bizarrely the app show the correct brand/type/size (tyres must have RFI chips) but iDrive still only shows ‘other’ option selected.
