I have an update to do on mine, on my phone it’s says it’s ready to download and to follow instructions in the car, in the car it just says it will let me know when it’s possible to do it but it never comes up or prompts me. Any advice welcome

Have you downloaded to the phone yet? You need to do this step first.

Once in the phone - then you will need to connect to the car via 1st Bluetooth, then 2nd Wi-Fi.

The App will then offer to transfer to the car - usually while driving???

Only then will you get the installation option from the car - with usual pre-requisites - Parked, Level, Key NOT in Car, etc. 20 minutes later the App will inform you about successful install.

Charging the battery (or batteries, MHT) was certainly what made the difference for me the last time around on 11/2023.50

This time around, like many others, I'm still waiting for the notification in the MyBMW app.

Car battery is fine and charged, phone is the same. I checked and charged the battery a few weeks ago when I was on holiday for 2 weeks and carried out a full battery health check. All came back good.

Hmm? Strange. I can see from your photo of your iDrive screen you're not getting any highlighted prompts and it's all greyed out.

If the battery is ok maybe an iDrive reset perhaps?

I can't understand why they don't tell you on screen which of the various installation criteria isn't being met and is therefore preventing installation.

Same here. Seems an easy and useful thing to display.

My car is stuck waiting on 11/2023.50, has been for months - a year maybe? Had the battery on charge, done many long trips but no installation.

Even the stored fault code doesn’t tell you, it just says “Code 038400 - RSU: Vehicle preconditions not met.“

Still waiting on a notification in the app. Not that it's big deal, it seems this update simply brings the HUD up to standard with some (I assume new) regulation.
