Stick to your guns. You wouldnt get to walk if they dont drop the price (without losing your deposit). Why do they get to increase it? They need to eat it. They agreed to a price.

Maybe they’re banking on this since they said we’ll see once the car arrives what they’ll do about the difference. |

Car dealers are unfortunately car dealers. When I started poking around in July on the BMW website, there was a "value your trade option". I put in the data for my car (2021 540i xDrive 33K miles) and got a 35,500-39,500 valuation.
When I went to the dealer to purchase, they took my car to have it looked at (it's pristine - I have a high attention to detail based on career choice) they came back with a contract with a 33,500 trade value. I pointed out that the value I got online was considerable higher AND showed them their listing on their lot for a 2021 540 w/o 5K of options mine has with 39K miles for $43,900. I wanted the M440 so I didn't push hard and asked them to come up 2K on the trade which they did. They would have course taken the extra 2K if I wasn't prepared. I also didn't push as I'm driving my nice 540 for almost 3 months before I give it to them in trade and I figure that's worth at least 2K in value. Just be prepared, be reasonable and let them know in a nice way that you're not playing games. As I've mentioned earlier, I got 8.8% total off my new M440 GC. Said a different way, I'm paying less for this 2025 M440 than I paid for my 2021 540i ! I'm pretty happy!! |

They said to just wait until the car arrives and they’ll see what they can do with the difference. I’ve pushed them to resolve it now, but they keep saying to wait. Not sure what I’ll do at this point. It is going to be a beautiful car. But, I’m not going to accept this charge on principle. Last edited by TankerFlight; 09-21-2024 at 09:00 PM.. |

Destination/shipping is one of the few fees the dealer can’t do much about, since it is a standard factory charge. However, I’m also a little skeptical about them saying at the last minute that they “missed” or “forgot” it, since every car has it. Sounds like more of a ploy to get additional profit at the last minute.

You can't grind so much that there's no metal left to sharpen IMO. Whenever I went in for issues that may have been outside of warranty, it was handled quickly and w/o its and I was always given a loaner car. That relationship is worth something. As a jewelry retailer, we get guys that grind out of sport. Who do you think we give the best price to? The guy who grinds every last dollar out of the deal or a customer who has shown loyalty? It's not different in the car biz. I had to walk away once from my dealer as they were playing the price game, but I've purchased 4 cars from them since 2008. They are smart enough to know that they want my biz and they stay competitive. I'm sure I could have ground the for a few $$$ more, but I can afford the price as listed and I see it as a win win! |

I've gone as far as Maryland from New York when dealers played hardball to get a fair deal - great way to get to meet my new m340i for a few hours 🙃 2 cars were European delivery at 7% total off MSRP. |

I built my car online and told them to give me an out the door price. I countered and got 3.5% off the OTD price. Not as good as some of the deals I have seen but still below MSRP, so I am happy with it.

Loveland. They never mentioned any such policy to me. Maybe because I’ve been a customer for 10 years, and my father picked up a used 330 a couple weeks prior.
