Hey all, I have new-to-me 2022 m340i that I got last week. It came with an illuminated kidney grill from the factory which I find a little tacky. Two of the lights also seem dimmer than the rest, so I'm leaning towards swapping it out for the OEM Shadowline diamond grill.

Has anyone done this before? Is it a different process to removing the illuminated grill from a regular grill? Will the illuminated tech be an issue?

It is not like this from factory. Illuminated kidney is a retrofit option
Same like other M performance parts.

Ah, that's interesting to note. I just assumed it was from factory because it was listed on the original window sticker that I found in my glovebox.

That looks......interesting. There are several posts on swapping out the grille and I think Kies Motorsports has a YouTube video on a grille swap for a G20. I'm wondering about the power connection for the lights on that. How exactly is that grille wired up?

Beats me.. I haven't taken it apart yet, so tough to tell. However, there's a very small circular button on my steering column that I can toggle on or off while the car is on.
I currently have it off, but when I unlock my car, the welcome lights automatically turn it on until I get in and start the car.

I'm curious whether or not the car would throw any codes at me when I unplug and swap it out.

I think there are more car manufacturers putting illuminated grills on their car, so it feels like this will be more common. Personally I like it, but I understand, each to their own.

If it's on your window sticker, it's under factory warranty for 5yr/40k miles. have them replace it since it's not even lighting
