Rear shelf installation
Hello,
I changed my black seat belts with m seat belts that I found from the eBay. The changing part was straight forward. I followed the instructions manual to remove all the trims needed and changed seat belt modules. Before After Problem occurred when I tried to install rear window shelf inside. The middle clip from the rear luggage screen(51467482400) was pointing outwards and blocked the shelf from budged inside. The clip is too strong and it won't bent in. It seems to be made of plastic. I tried to search the solution but I couldn't find any. Does anyone know how to install the rear shelf of g20? The middle clip is pointing outwards Overview of rear window shelf Current status of my rear window shelf |

On the plastic strip that goes on the rear part of the car (No 2) there's a groove where the shelf slots into. With the clip point upwards i'm sure it's not going into the groove properly. If you can't put that clip back i would break it off. I don't think the shelf will sit correctly with the clip point upwards. Hope this makes sense.

To remove, drop the rear seats down and you'll see on the shelf 4 tabs (10 in the picture) which need to be removed. You will also need to remove the side parts of the seat by pulling forward and out. Once these are out you also need to remove the white covers which fit onto the back of the side part of the seat (to remove this in the middle hole you will see a tab which when pulled up which will release it. This then fits onto the side part of the removed seat for when you refit them. Now comes the tricky part, the C pillar covers. First pull the rubber seal (i think this is what it's called) out of the way, get you hand in at the top part (near to the back window) and give it a yank this will release the metal and both white clips away. Once free then pull upwards and out of the way (both sides). This will now free the back shelf, but be carful as the speaker as still connected. If you want to remove it completely then you need to undo the 2 seat belt bolts and the plastic cover which are over the seat belts. Putting it back in reverse the hardest part is getting the shelf back into the groove of the plastic part (number 2). Just on a side note the rattle that you are getting might be coming from the boot (trunk) lid rubbing against the rubber seal. This is the problem i faced and after removing the complete rear covers i pinpointed to this. The solution was to spray silicon spray onto the boot seal and boot (sorry trunk) Also just try an experiment and drive a little bit with the boot/trunk open to see if the rattle is still here. It could save you a lot of time and effort. Hope this helps. |

Thank you very much for the detailed instructions. Regarding the boise you experienced with the trunk seal, did it sound like a pen click when you went over bumps? If so that might be my problem. I had a sound from the moon roof that I fixed by lubricating the seal.

Thanks for the kind reply.
It was really hard to pull the shelf out. Maybe that clip was holding the shelf tight. I’ll give another try and I would have to break it if I can’t put it back. |
