I used to be able to send directions to the vehicle from Apple Maps and Google Maps by using the share button from those applications. Is that function still available on ios14 because I can’t figure out to share to the BMW Connected app?

Several years ago, Google Maps changed some data elements & BMW wouldn't accept due to security concerns. Since then, you can no longer send address to your BMW from Google Maps

well, that's not true. Just the other week I've sent instructions from Google Maps (desktop) to my BMW.

It is odd it's on the Send to Phone section, but it is there, and it works:

Unless its me, I have used send to car directly from Google Maps desktop for years. Now it sends the contact details only to the car and you now dont seem to be able to select it in the car and Navigate. Very strange.

I'm not sure, perhaps it's something in the US, BUT I just tried sending to my car (which I have set up in Google Maps correctly) and I get a black dialog box at the bottom of the map screen that says, "We couldn’t communicate with your automaker. Please contact them for assistance."

That has been the problem I've had for this car and my previous BMW for several years.

Not sure what is going on??

I contacted BMW Genius and was advised that “At this time, you are able to send directions to your BMW via the BMW ConnectedDrive app only.” They must have done this update recently as I was able to send directions from the Google Maps app in early September.

Yeah, this is frustrating. The BMW ConnectedDrive App needs to be updated to add back the functionality to share destinations via the Share tab in iOS. I feel like iOS 14 required an update to the app and BMW never made it... But I can't say if it is that or they just decided to can it.

If I plot a route in Apple Maps on my iPhone, when I open Maps in Car Play and tap 'Destinations' my route is there.

What I do is make a new calendar appointment in Outlook including the address on my desktop computer for planned trips. Once in the car I just tap on the address and Apple Maps starts navigation.

I wish it would work with Google Maps but Apple seems to work well enough and the process is easy.

Appears that send to vehicle from Apple Maps or Google Maps disappeared again. I think it disappeared when the myBMW app updated sometime last week. Anybody experiencing the same problem?

So that is both on IOS? Google Maps on my Android phone can still send a location to myBMW app.
