Gotcha, is this something I can fix myself or do I need to bring it back to see if they can recalibrate for me? Sorry this is the first time I've done anything to a car I've owned and my first fast-ish car, so this stuff is all very new to me.

If you’re not familiar with ISTA or you don’t know what it is at all, I would have them look into it.

Sounds good, thanks.

And by recalibrating the actuator, you were able to resolve the same issue with your MPE?

I had a Dinan exhaust with the same issue.

Regarding the valve actuator not placing enough tension on the valve itself, I have dealt with this exact issue before and am sharing input based on that. I hear the sound that OP is referring to and it’s exactly what I experienced.
really? I've never actually checked but I thought i had read it was open to help cats warm quicker (vs closed to do the same) especially given how ridiculously loud it is. i thought it was open on cold start for the first 5-7 seconds then closes and quiets slightly. why would it be so crazy loud at cold start if its pushing through the full muffler? weird.

If you have MHD or BimmerLink or anything that can open and close the exhaust flap on command, force it open during the cold start routine and I promise you the car will instantly get twice as loud.
