I got that and 2 other (drivers assist and something else) steering got super heavy. I cycled power at the next stoplight and the errors cleared. Haven't seen it since.

When mine occurred I went hard around a right turn and got on throttle at the apex. I tried to replicate but wasn't able to.

I’ve never encountered this, however based on the error message it seems to be related to the LSD. I’m assuming if too much traction is lost or one of the rear wheels lifts off the ground and is suspended in air, this could cause the LSD to temporarily fail and give off this error.

hello, I replaced the rear differential cover on my M340i and new BMW G4 fluid. Since then, car now shows this error message - Rear Axle Differential Lock Reduced. Has anybody ever been able to determine root cause and/or how to resolve?

An excellent shop in my area helped me diagnose and solve for this. When replacing the differential cover, the diff internals had apparently twisted slightly out of alignment. The cover has a specific 'key' area that must be aligned with the correct section of the diff internals. Upon installing the new diff cover, I apparently did not have this lined up perfectly and it caused my issues and error codes. Big Kudos to MPorium in McKinney, TX for helping me solve for this at a fraction of the cost the local bmw dealer quoted me.

I have a similar issue, i have received a few errors on my g20 (rear axle differential lock, cont. driving possible: Four-wheel-drive sys. , and Restraints system) which happened after i detailed and took it to the shop for PPF. The steering wheel is also heavy now and i have some tachometer issues where the speed im going freezes and doesnt update to the speed im actually going for a bit. Does anyone have any idea how to fix those issues?

Yes, dealership replaced my diff cover and got the same thing. There is a number that they have to enter into the software to get the LSD software to work. They had to get this number from Germany. Took them a few days and then they sorted it out.
