Miserable rainy day weather. Whatever snow we had fall in the past few days is melting. Going to have some yo-yo temperatures for the next week or two with above and below freezing temps. Impossible to keep the car clean.

My contractor came in again to clear my laneway last night. It's going to be a real mess on Wednesday with forecasted T° of +8C and lots of rain.

Forecasters are calling for a strong Santa Ana wind event starting tonight (now) in to tomorrow, with gusts up to 55mph.
I have written before about the safe little pocket we live in where the Santa Anas seem to pass right over us. Hope that happens again tonight and tomorrow for us. The winds out here can be downright dangerous. I have watched full grown trees topple over in my back yard. It's part of life out here. The winds seem to be picking up. Let's hope they pass. |

We had 1/4 inch of gentle rain yesterday, which is good for our drought situation.
A bigger storm system is coming in on Wednesday, with highs forecast to be in the upper 50's F and 2+ inches of rain. After that, the forecast highs will be barely above freezing until the weekend.....

Unbelievable... Already +13°C. The rain isn't so bad but the wind...!!! I felt like Marylyn Monroe over the grate. And the snow is gone.

^^^^^ Bomb cyclone ^^^^^
The system already passed us late yesterday, dumping 1.21" of much-needed rain. Yesterday's highs in the low 60's F have been replaced with a high today of only 37 F and a steady 15-25 MPH wind as the low bombs up over the Canadian Maritimes. Glad that I don't live near my old stomping grounds in the snowbelts south of Buffalo, where they are under yet another state of emergency for 2-3 *feet* of lake-effect snow. The national news has a current story about a county plow flipping over a few miles from where I lived, which you need to remember are some of the biggest snow plows on the roads because of the crazy snow they get in that area until Lake Erie freezes over in January.....

Heading out to the airport shortly to pick-up Mum and my best friend just left Halifax for the 3˝ hour drive ahead of the storm. It looks like that we'll be cocooning this evening with yummy eggnog.
