I still like the M340i vs the C43 AMG and the S5, so ordered a 2025 and negotiated 2% more off the MSRP due to the hassle. I had contacted BMW corporate a few times and they offered no help. Just kept telling me to work with my local dealer. I get it that the dealer is a customer of the manufacturer, and I am a customer of the dealer. But was at least hoping for some reaolution other than waiting. The dealer put my order in right away. I got my build code right away, so that cut down 4 weeks compared to the original build. Hoping to get this one before it snows here in Pennsylvania....So much for some summer fun like I had planned.

Thanks. I didn't realize the factory was so far inland. Figured it would be closer to the coast for logistics.

Agreed, that would seem logical. However, the factory needs to be close to a population center and a skilled or trainable workforce.

Adjacent to BMW SLP is a massive GM plant producing Chevrolet Trax and Terrain vehicles, as well as automatic transmissions. Both companies are competing for the same labor resources.

The factory is in the middle of the country because it has access to both coasts (and both sides of the USA) within a half day by train either way.

Thus far I have been pleased with the build quality. No squeaks or rattles. Very tight fit and finish. And less orange peal on the exterior paint than my F90 M5 Competition, built in Dingolfing, Germany.

As much as I don't want to admit it, but Mexico made bimmer is not exactly the same as German made. Window sticker of german made is %60 german parts while the Mexico built is %21 Mexico and %23 Germany, So it's not just assembly but also parts that are actually made in Mexico.

there are also small differences that you can spot like the steering wheel centre in Mexico one has no stitching.

I for one, care that my car is made in Germany.

My M340 is German build and has no stitching on the steering wheel. This is the case since model year 2024 I believe, not related with the assembly plant.

German made versus Mexican made

I see that a lot of people are saying there are no issues with their Mexican made BMW, but from what I am seeing is that there is, seems there are more creeks and cracks and other issues with Mexican made, which makes complete sense

I don't understand why they do this, if you're paying $80,000 for a German car, please make sure that it's made in Germany and not in Mexico

A customer of mine bought one made in Mexico and he is doing nothing but complaining about the build quality, although I am sure that some Mexican made BMWs are fine. I think the majority of them have more issues than German. Which makes sense.

My 2023 Mexico build is great. Zero creeks or other odd noises. The only complaint is that if the passenger doesn't make sure the seat belt goes back quite right... It bumps against the b pillar panel. Not a big deal.

I'm sure parts origins are different but I'm very happy with build quality

iPhones are made in China and they are fine, as long as there is a quality control and oversight. I do not mind Mexican build BMW as long as quality is ok. So far I am impressed with tightness and build quality. Tried new 5 cheaper version, German built in Austria ride quality was POS.

German economy is tanking. I made a visit last summer and everything was dirty, slow, and late. I don't know what this will do to car production quality, but the whole country seems to be rapidly deteriorating.

Oh, also, German car manufacturers lots 80% of their profit last year.

If you’re in Canada and you order Merino leather which is an option here, I believe that pretty much guarantees a German build. Otherwise it’s luck of the draw.

Mine was built in Mexico and so far it’s been amazing. The added benefit of Mexican built for Canada is that delivery time is very short relative to a German build.

Who knows what the future holds though given all the tariff talk between Canada, USA, and Mexico.

Build quality can vary from location to location, I actually sought a South Africa built F30 since these were coming out slightly better in terms of issues per XX miles, and at 100k+ miles haven’t had any issues, only the usual wear and tear and maintenance items. Hell, I JUST replaced the original battery after 6 yrs 2 days ago

We had an E90 which was built in the Rosslyn South Africa plant. Build quality was exceptional. One of the best vehicles we have owned.
