Door actuator part number

Hello folks.

So for the past few weeks I've been having an issue where my front passenger door intermittently won't open from the inside or outside, the locking mechanism works but pulling in the handles just won't open the door. Sometimes it just randomly works again and then there are other times it needs me to operate the central locking a few times and pulling on the handle and it will work but there has been a few times where I just can't get it opened at all. I regularly drive my mum around who has severe arthritis and actually worried it fails all together with her in the car. Having read up in this it appears the door actuator needs replaced.

Don't mind replacing the door actuator myself (used to be an Auto Spark years ago) but I'm really struggling to find a part number to order one up. I have a local BMW independent specialist I could take it to but I expect it to be pretty expensive. Can any of you help me out with the part number, car is a 69 plate G20 320i, believe it may be 7445051.

Hi, sorry… unable to help you with your quest, but I live in central Scotland and would like to find a really good BMW independent specialist for servicing, and any repairs as my m340i is now out of warranty and I no longer want to pay stealer’s prices. Could you tell me who it is you use and would you recommend them?
TIA, Alan

I'm just about to book a service myself with Glasgow Independent BMW & Mini Specialists who are in Shawbridge street in the South Side of Glasgow, this'll be the first I'll have used them but they seem to have good reviews, it's the closest independent garage to me so thought I'd give them a try.

***UPDATE - Minor service has been quoted at £240 by them, also need brake fluid replaced so that's an additional £90. They said that they'll also check the diagnostics to see if any errors are being thrown up for my door issue.***

I had the same problem intermittently for over a year, on a 19 plate G20 320d. A word of warning - it wasn't actually the actuator that fixed it for me, and I had the same approach as you to getting it fixed.

The problem still existed after replacing the actuator. They discovered the door handle support was also damaged and needed replaced. Has been fine since. If you want a belt and braces approach, think about including that. I think that part number is 51219881777

There were no fault codes related to this recorded at all. Good luck!

PS. Also interested to hear how you rate the Shawbridge specialist.

Thanks for the heads up mate, I've ordered a replacement actuator anyway which is being delivered later in the week, I'll hold off for the guys to run their diagnostics while the car is in for a service before I swap it over, just in the off chance something does get flagged up. If it turns out I'm still having issues after installing the other actuator I'll definitely look in to the door handle support as you mentioned. The guys at the garage might offer to have a look but if it's going to cost silly money I'd rather just do it myself.

Only reason I've went straight for a replacement actuator is that it appears to be a very common issue across a range of the BMW's when you google it, just thought best try the most common resolution first.

I have this intermittent issue with my rear passenger door for over a year. Had the door lock replaced last week, all paid for with BMW goodwill at local dealer

So car went in for it's service yesterday and happy with how they handled everything, very friendly and professional. Idrive system updated to show that the oil was changed and the brake fluid changed.

They said their diagnostics didn't show anything for the door which is understandable as it's an intermittent thing and it was working fine for the whole time the car was there, I have the replacement sitting in the boot so will get round to changing it over when I get rid of this dreaded flu and the weather gets a bit milder.
