New wheel bumps
So I had Vossen HF5 with MPS put on a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that around 73MPH, the ride would begin to get bumpy. As I accelerated past that, it would get worse. Figured it was a wheel balance issue so I took it back to the shop to have them take a look at it. Wheels balanced at zero. Next thought was hub spacer…nope, all good there.
Shop owner couldn’t figure it out past checking those two things. Told me to drive it home and if it’s still there, call him back and he’d reach out to Vossen. Any ideas as to what the issue could be? I didn’t have the issue with the OEM wheels. Initially I thought maybe due to the lower profile tire I’m feeling the road a little more but it doesn’t make sense that it’s only at higher speeds that I feel it |

The shop owner asked me to have a road force balance done to determine where the issue is. I’ll get that done and hopefully get an answer. If not, I’ll be putting the OEM wheels back on, it’s just not enjoyable to drive like this

Was able to get a road force balance done today and the tire balance was way off. Very interesting process, I’d never seen or heard of it before. I had always assumed all that was needed was a wheel balance. They made all the corrections which should take care of the vibrations I was getting at higher speeds. Didn’t have a chance to take it out on the freeway today but will tomorrow. I was happy to learn that the Vossen were not the issue, it was in the tires. Tech said it was a common issue with all tires, most people just don’t address it. Strange.
