M340i Tune

So I plan on tuning my 2022 M340i. I currently live in Alaska and the highest octane they carry is 90. Will it be safe to run a OTS stage 2 tune?

while each tuner has their own definition of what a stage is, I think it is safe to say with any of them with 90 octane fuel only you will not be able to venture beyond a stage 1

I was thinking the same thing. I didn’t wanna push it. And I was only doing a downpipe & tune

As you said the naming is completely based on the tuner. but in most cases the stages dont relate to fueling, but upgrades.

so stage 2 would be downpipes, and then you can select stage 2 91, 93 ,etc...

OP,
I recommend you stick to stage 1 91 , if you get a downpipe in the future, you can run stage 2 91.

But will I be okay running 90 octane with downpipe & 91 tune.

I won’t hurt the car by running lower octane on a tune meant for 91. Or will car adjust timing to compensate

100% and this is why I think it was really smart of mission to move away from the traditonal stages thing with their app release and instead base thier tuning simply on your fuel type in your tank and if you have DP. Too much confusion over this stage or that stage etc...

I would absolutely not run any OTS tune on a car that only sees 90 octane fuel. If that is the best fuel you can get, I would invest the money to get a custom tune for that fuel to be safe.

You do know about your car requiring a DME unlock, right?

Depends on which tuning platform you go with. If you go MHD, Steve from Wedge or David Shoup. If you go bootmod3, Sameh or Mikey Botti.

I wouldn’t go to Doug. I know multiple people who were unhappy with him. I’ve yet to hear anything bad about Wedge or Shoup.

Interesting, I have a couple friends who are happy with doug. Doug also helped one of my friends with his turbo and reflex installs.
