Attached is the instructions to replace this trim piece.
Anybody buy this trim repair kit and don’t need that silver rim piece that wraps around the “Start Stop” button?

Looking for just that piece since my dog put a noticeable scratch in it, but don’t need anything else.

FYI,
After installing the Pre-LCI shifter on my 2024 LCI X5, the dealership made me remove it and reinstall the LCI shifter in order to diagnose why my driver assist feature became “restricted”.
It was a faulty sensor.
I’m not installing the Pre-LCI again to have to uninstall again in 3 months when it needs necessary service.
Long story short, it’s for sale.
BMW genuine authentic all crystal gear shifter center console control panel.
This is not just the starts/stop, knob, lever.
Entire setup and its plug and play.
Fully functional
It’s over 3k at dealership

Thanks,
What you are saying is exactly true. Dealer wouldn’t do anything without me putting back the LCI
So I’m selling the Pre-LCI that I purchased and had swapped it with.
I don’t want the headache again.
My wording was probably off in my post.

Hi,

Has anybody got any issues with swapping their shifter to the pre lci shifter (yet)?

I hear some people had issues with their gear box? Or is that just false information.

(I got the 330e)

Also im concerned about the warranty if it breaks if i switch it to the pre lci shifter.

Thanks for letting me know guys!

I've done mine and had no problems. I just need to look into coding it fully as at the moment in Bimmercode I can't now code some modules on the car.

Need to buy Bimmerutility. Will get around to it this weekend I hope, but any help on coding for anyone that has done this also would be appreciated.

Coded my shifter this evening. Pretty easy with BimmerUtility. Now no longer throws an error code so hopefully dealer won't pick it up.

dpazz BimmerUtility seems a good option since i dont have a windows laptop. I dont know if bimmercode can do it but do you mind telling me the steps that you followed to code the S mode? for me everything was plug and play except the fact that i can not put it in Sport/ manual mode.

Hey guys this is an interesting thread. I'm picking up new 2025 M440 GC but it has new style button "shifter" which I hate. What would I need to get to go back to the handle shifter?
Is it just plug and play or needs to be programmed/coded? I hate the new style button shifter.

Yes, also interested in this. I am sure someone has or will do it on their G20 LCI2 3 series too. Hopefully someone on this forum and will let us all know!

For those who have done this, how the hell do you release the two front tabs on the centre console trim?!

The rest of them are super easy, as they are just metal spring clips, but the two front plastic tabs that need to be released seem impossible to access?

Any helps greatly appreciated!

Just a quick follow-up on my LCI Gear Selector retrofit activities for those members that may be interested.

From my earlier post (https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...03&postcount=6), I could not resolve the issue with the Sport Mode Status LED with the pre-production LCI Gear Selector retrofit so I purchase and install a production LCI Gear Selector for the G2x Series vehicles. This resolved this issue.

However, it created an new issue... the LCI Gear Selector no longer has the Adaptive Drive Mode button (my M340iX is equipped with Adaptive Drive Mode) so if I change Drive Modes, the only way I can get back into Adaptive Drive Mode is by restarting my vehicle (I coded my vehicle to start in Adaptive Drive Mode).

I was browsing thought the BDC CAFD 7083 tonight and found a way to map the Adaptive Drive Mode "button" to one of the other Drive Mode buttons.

FYI, each Drive Mode button supports up to 3 Drive modes e.g. the Sport Drive Mode button when pressed successively will cycle through Sport, Sport+ and [Sport] Individual Drive modes.

I ended up mapping the Adaptive Drive Mode into the Eco Pro Drive Mode button since EcoPro has only two Drive modes - EcoPro & [EcoPro] Individual.

The FDL Coding for this mapping is:

CAFD 7083:

BDC_BODY 7083 FesEcoWorldMode0 Werte=0A [Adaptive Drive Mode]
BDC_BODY 7083 FesEcoWorldMode1 Werte=07 [EcoPro Drive Mode]

Note: I relocated the EcoPro Drive Mode into the Mode1 (unused) and used Mode0 for Adaptive Driving Mode in order to keep the EcoPro Drive Modes together.

So successive presses of the EcoPro button will cycle through Adaptive --> EcoPro --> [EcoPro] Individual Drive modes.

The shifter was just plug and play. I have a 2025 LCI and looking to purchase this https://www.ebay.com/itm/226551248894

Did you disconnect the battery?
I can't seem to find this exact one except this listing with same button layout. If anyone knows the part number for it would be helpful.

Yes definitely disconnect battery. I did when I swapped mine and It takes only a minute or two. I’ve read about owners that didnt, and they bricked their BMW. Takes a lot less time then the tow to the dealer! Ha

Has anyone swapped back to the handle shifter in an LCI X5? If so were you able to code it so there is no error message when at dealer? If so I thought there was no more coding In the 2024 and later LCI X5. Did someone figure it out? Is/was the coding prevented in other 2024 and later LCI BMW models?
As my other posts and threads mentioned, I swapped the entire gear shift console from paddle shifter to handle shifter, and it was plug and play. I then brought my X5 to the dealer for an ongoing issue from the day I took delivery and they noticed the swap when they saw the error message in their software. They wouldnt service my vehicle because of the swap, and charged me hundreds to “recode” the paddle shifter console back in, before they would address the isssue. This was approx 10 months ago. Now I see posts that people have made the swap and coded away the error message. Is this true? Has there been progress in coding the LCI’s over the last year? Any info is appreciated. If so I’ll stop trying to sell the console and I’ll install it again!
