Your thoughts of bootmod3

About to sent my ecu out for bm3.

Wanted to see your guys opinions on stage1 bootmod. Not planning to run any E. Just OTS 91 stage1 tune.

How you like it? how does the car feel? Any regrets?

There’s considerable change in power going from factory tune to BM3 stage 1 tune. I loved it. Going from stage 1 to 2, however, is far less of a jump (in my experience) and requires a downpipe. No regrets on my end. If you value the cars warranty, you should not do any of this.

Not too concerned about warranty anymore.

I primarily wanted to know how the tune feels? If logs are good and power delivery is consistent?

i never owned a B58 so my experience is based off other engines where i used bootmod3 (n55, S55 & S58)

Going from stock to Stage 1 is by far the best upgrade you can make. It delivers the most noticeable difference in performance without any downsides. With just a tune, you’re essentially reaching M-level power.

In my opinion, Bootmod3 is the best way to achieve this

How do I go about doing a tune. I'm assuming if I walk this path I'm YOYO and out of warranty?

Your warranty remains intact as long as you don’t cause any damage and then try to claim it for free repairs. I’ve leased BMWs, all fully built, for over 10 years, and I’ve never had any issues.

There was a thread about bm having timing issues at high temperatures? Do you have any insights on this?

It is high chance if any of your engine components give up it will not be covered by warranty.

If you planning to tune it, just assume this. If they will cover its better for you.

FWIW, bm3’s OTS maps are a lot more aggressive than MHD, so there’s bound to eventually be some edge cases where they don’t always play nicely with a specific setup since they can’t account for everything. They run well in most cases, but with OTS style tunes that are anything more than conservative, there’s always the possibility for something to not work the way it was intended. And in such cases, if you reach out to PTF support, they will help you get it resolved relatively quickly.

ProTuningFreaks, creators of the BM3 platform. My question to you is, do you plan on ever upgrading turbo, port injection, etc?

No, so far I dont have plans on making huge gains. I just really dont want to sell my car to get an M3 and have another payments. I just want something slightly more fun for daily. Though, Id spend whatever this will come out to and not have another loan.
