Helix Ci5 Woofers
These under seat drivers arrived from Italy today. Purchased from here with about 35 Euros in shipping:
http://www.axiomedia.it/en/automotiv...0mm-2-ohm.html http://www.axiomedia.it/en/automotiv...it200-bmw.html Quality looks great. This is with the adapters installed and wired in 1 X 2 ohm single voice coil (S2 model) configuration. Powered by Bimmertech Alpha One UP10 (Match UP 10DSP), so each should get 160 watts at 2 ohms. Planning on adding HPF at 20hz and LPF at 500hz using the ATF DSP tool to match the 25-500hz specs. Under the IO tab, you can set the routing for each input signal to 50% subwoofer, 50% Front L Full, so I'm hoping this will send a full signal to take advantage of the advertised hybrid mid/sub driver. Might install tomorrow since we're supposed to reach a balmy 36F. Will report back. Also got this universal impact joint to be able to use the impact drill with T50 bit at 20 degree angle to remove the rear seat bolts. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000RLMRD0...fed_asin_title |

Nice. waiting for mine to come in from Germany.
Also was just goofing off and made offer on a set of new 4in alphaone separates that seller accepted to my surprise. I don’t even know what I will do with them as I want to use something else. Last edited by m440i804; 01-22-2025 at 08:14 PM.. |

Is that with the tweeters? I haven’t decided on replacements for doors yet…

Might be worth trying them out since you have them on hand, especially if plug n play. Reviews sounded pretty good.
I’m trying to get motivated to swap in these under seats. Not nearly as much fun working in the cold. |

Still waiting for mine. FedEx was supposed to deliver today, but says it went to the wrong address.
I'm probably going to wait for the weekend to see if it warms up Looking forward to your review if you manage to get them installed. |

Made contact with my vendor about my ci5 order, and was told that they had an inventory error when I ordered and subs won’t ship until 2/7. I think I might cancel with them and possibly go with company that you used. Keep us updated on your progress. |

Bit the bullet and braved the cold. Really wasn't too bad after warming up a little.
Installation was super easy. Make sure you push the harness plug all the way until it clicks, which is obvious but you have to push it in firmly. Also, you don't have to remove the speaker frame that's bolted to the chassis, but you may need a pry tool to remove the OEM speaker and its attached mount once the 4 T20 screws are removed. They come out as one piece easily enough with some fiddling. Sound-wise, I'm fairly happy with them so far. You can't low pass above 300hz with the DSP tool, but if you mute the other speakers, it definitely plays up to that range. It's particularly noticeable if you alternate between a trunk sub only low passed at 80hz and the under seat woofers at 300. I may try 33% sub1, 33% sub2, and 33% Front Full L, just 50/50 sub1 and sub2, or maybe sub1+2 and Full Front L+R (25% each) as input signals to see if those options deliver more thump in the front sound stage. Might try to 120hz low pass to blend with the doors. Otherwise they're a solid thumbs up. Last edited by snekjumpr; 01-23-2025 at 02:22 PM.. |

Are you sending around 160 watts to each under seat? |

Got mine today.
I'm almost done with 1 speaker, I need to tighten the T20s and put the guard back on. My hands are frozen though so taking a break. I find the carpet really rigid and hard to maneuver in to release and tighten |

Messing around today with the DSP, for now I’ve settled on HP at 20 and LP at 80, just like the trunk subs. Also set input signal to 50% sub1 + 50% sub2. You lose some of the higher frequencies, but the bass feels tighter and more thumpy. Will be curious what others settle on.

Alright, both are in. I will go for a drive later on to see how it is, but had a quick listen and noticed the bass is a lot deeper.
Also going to be honest, have no idea how to tune like you guys are doing. I have a tune file from Bimmertech and it was working for me. |

Made contact with my vendor about my ci5 order, and was told that they had an inventory error when I ordered and subs won’t ship until 2/7. I think I might cancel with them and possibly go with company that you used. Was able to order another set of subs on Friday from a dealer in Latvia. He shipped them out same day and my tracking says deliver on Monday. Damn that’s quick. Also found a person with extra set of under seat brackets, and should get those sometime next week. |
