Well know I have to put my thinking cap on. Do I buy out my lease that ends in October or get my 6th 2dr 3/4 series. One thing is for sure, I do want to see it in person to verify that I am not a fan of the new look.

It's funny the press release mentions the Hoffmeister Kink by name and points it out... I was wondering if the copy writer and I were looking at the same car...

Couple of things:

1. The length increase over the F32 is similar to the how much the G20 is longer than the F30. Apparently a rather tall adult can now (just barely) sit in in the back.

2. The german configurator and price lists are up; there's only Base and M-Sport trims, no Luxury or Sport line (though sport seats are standard anyway, so the latter would be a bit useless). The sub-M440i M-Sport models (no real photos so far I think), i.e. the 430i M-Sport looks pretty much identical to the M440i, just without the Cerium Gray inlays (and the exhaust tips are different, of course).

3. There seem to be only two different headlights; the normal headlights seem to have the same functionality as the G20 headlights, the middle tier is not available.

4. Autogefühl and What Car claim the trunk is about the same size as the previous 4, but more boxy and taller, so better usable.

5. The german price list as a photo of the extended shadow line (see attached) and an "M-Sport package pro" (which includes middle-tier (non-HK) hifi, extended shadow line, M-Sport brakes, an M-Sport spoiler and the M-Sport safety belts) and an "M-Carbon Exterior package".

For those holding out for the M4, it's going to be ~3800lbs+ and probably be as isolated as an M5.

They don't make cars for me anymore.
I agree with much of what you said. However, if looking for a 2-door, 4 seat car, the options are very similar... C43 and S5 are within 100 pounds of the 4 and don't have manuals. I've driven an S5 and it's quite terrible. Genuinely curious which brand you are going to look into next? Porsche - if you don't mind giving up the small back seat, is the only one that comes to mind, but $$$

You aren't wrong, but the other 2 germans (C43 and S5) are right up there too. I know the S5 won't hang with the M440, maybe the C43 would, but I've never driven one.

Show me a non black car with the black grille and shadow headlights. I doubt it would look good.

I SHOULD be the ideal customer for this car. I'm 22 and currently an Audi/BMW owner. The next gen. M3 is obviously on my radar for my next vehicle. After seeing this thing I will be steering clear. I don't know what kind of audience testing BMW did but I don't know anyone in my age group I've talked to who's into this thing.. The front grilles are weird and too much.. Ya it's a homage to earlier BMWs but no one my age gives a damn about earlier BMWs. Forget the grilles, the rest of the car is just soft. It doesn't look masculine at all. The rear 3/4 looks droopy and could easily be an Infiniti. Even all the tacked on M bits still makes the car look soft. Where are the bold, hard body lines? Audi absolutely killed it with the current gen S5/RS5. Thats a aggressive looking coupe, and what I expected from a sporty BMW.

https://media-service.audiusa.com/s7...=2883&hei=1622

2 of my other 22-23 year old friends are F80 owners were excited about the new gen. not so much anymore. Audi has been killing it lately with the younger demographic because they can make bold, sporty looking cars that are also classy. This thing looks like a droopy infiniti with some ricer bits thrown on.

The german price list tech specs says 440 l, which is 15.54 cubic feet according to Google.

Everybody quickly got over the non-existant Hofmeister kink on 3 series touring, and there it is much more of an heritage in my opinion.
