Managed to drive to work today and my magic EV shrinking "gas tank" was not a problem. I've got 78% charge left and I hope I don't get stranded on the way home.

While I do think the shrinking gas tank issue is slightly overblown as a skeptic

But unless you live on Bouvet Island (which is a balmy -10C today, which still is documented to not affect range dramatically yet), you'd be hard pressed to find many inhabited cities with a reasonable amount of population where this will be an issue today in late August

I kid you not. I literally just watched an entire Youtube on Bouvet Island yesterday. Norway lays claim to it despite the British getting there first. That's hilarious.

It's going to be 99 degrees here today. Plan to use cabin overheat protection then cool the car to 73 before I get into it.

Just feels weird to clutch our pearls over the same thing a year later in the same thread. With all the massive worldwide EV burn carnage and with civilization itself in play from EV fires it seems like one could find some new stuff. That Tesla video was from five years ago also.

Is this true...The issue isn't the rights and wrongs of space x hiring but is the department of justice policy/law about hiring practices that may be/ are now legal in the US.
It could also be misreporting its the BBC afterall...

If the work was for a Federal contract, Space X can only use US citizens or foreigners who have legal US status (green card) to work in the US. All federal contractors must use the E-Verify system to vet new hires. All businesses are to use E-Verify to ascertain legal US status of new hires.

Additionally SpaceX would be in violation of ITAR law if they hired non-US citizens or non-green card holders based to the technology the company owns and uses.

There is already a program to hire foreigners with skills that are not easily filled with US citizens. It's called a H1B visa. The Feds set the number of H1B visas available every year to companies that wish to utilize this method of filling vacancies. Of course there's the debate that this is a legalized method of depressing wages for high skill jobs.

In addition, depending on the work SpaceX is doing in conjunction with the Feds, there could be a requirement of a minimum of a public trust clearance if not Confidential or higher. All of this requires a US Citizenship.

Heck many RFPs/RFQs are awarded based on if the offeror has US based support.

I find many of these headlines disingenuous as it is meant to suit a narrative with the mindset that many reading the article not knowing the actual reality. Same thing about the crap that was spewed a few years ago concerning mandating Federal agencies to buy stuff not made in China or any other country on the list of being hostile to the US. There already are regulations around this called TAA and BAA. I saw through this fake announcement as it was only to try to win political points from the uninformed.
