Cool. I don't see it in my Connected App store though so maybe it's not available in UK. Or I don't have sufficient hardware. Wonder if it's codeable?

BTW, I don't have a command button either. I wonder if it's something we don't get in North America or because I have an Android phone-- Connected App is v6.5.0.6411??

I've begun using the tire temperature display and boost gauges. I found out recently that even in 60 degree weather, the fronts warm up faster than the rears on a commute, leading to more tail wagging than expected. Let's me get more scientific with my launches

And also finding at the same time that there is much more lag in the B58 than in the N55. But of course there's more oomph too!

I was hoping the sport displays in the cluster would have a boost gauge but it's just the power and torque. However, can I use the torque gauge as a boost gauge since max torque presumably is at max boost?

Automatic plays by different rules than manual. To minimize wheelspin on a casual but spirited launch, guessing I need to lightly roll off first, then floor it? By the time the torque hits the rears, I'd guess it would be stable enough not to chirp the tires. More experimentation is warranted!

It's not a radar detector at all.
Your car wasn't warning you of a radar trap. It's possible there was some interference and it caused a reaction in a sensor, but it certainly wasn't intentionally a warning. They're illegal in many countries for a start!

I can't believe you're being serious.

I said from the beginning that I don't know what it actually is. The warning I received is not documented anywhere, but it was certainly triggered by the cops' radar. I don't know how that could be tested, but I have never seen that warning ever before or after, as I had never been shot by a speed gun before either. Maybe someone has some sort of radar that could imitate the type of signal and check if they receive a warning when shooting it at the car.

I used to own a 530 from 2018, and I've had the G20 since last year, and I've never seen that warning triggered by any other circumstance except this time, which was under completely normal driving conditions and the only abnormality was that the cops where like 300 mts. ahead controlling the speed. If you have a better explanation, I'd love to learn from your experience.

It's amazing how I came across this article indicating the possibility of speed trap detectors equipped to bmw vehicles right after I read your thread the chance that your vehicle is equipped with this function without you acknowledging is minimal, yet this is a response to those who thinks that it's impossible for a car company to provide these kind of services

I learned that, while climate control is in auto mode, you can still manually increase and decrease the fan speed.

Yep, this is quite useful since the auto fan speed is usually too low.

Indeed, I have seen this notification popped up on my instrument cluster. Yesterday I have picked up my g20 from dealership, on my way home, I have seen this notification popped up on my display. It's good to have this feature.

The large red side profile of the car appeared in the HUD and cluster as a front cross-traffic collision warning as another car pulled out of hidden driveway faster than system liked.

Tried it with my wife's phone (iPhone). Her connected drive had the connected command option. My android app doesn't. Though when I tried using her phone, it asked me to connect to the car's WiFi even though her phone was connected to it. It wouldn't let her access it. I'll try it again today to see if I can get it to work.

I learned that BMW OTA update releases are painfully slow to completely non existent.

not so much a new thing, but its been tough for me to adjust to the manual shifting - coming from an Audi S4, up shifting was "up" - where as with BMW its down. just have to reverse my brain - or let the trans do its auto thing

I believe, in most cars, it's like how it is in BMWs. Makes sense since they say, when you accelerate forward, G forces pull you back and it's easier to shift up by pulling the lever downwards (since you're pushed back) than upwards. I know the G forces in our cars aren't significant. Just saying that was what someone said the reasoning was.
I've never used the manual mode in any of my Audis since it didn't make sense. Also, it upshifts automatically even in M mode there. So I didn't see any use (I always drive in S anyway). I like how the G20 doesn't upshift automatically in M mode. Makes it a more involving drive.

New to me, after the last OTA software update I can now ask the BMW assistant by voice command to open my window to different levels. Can also ask to change drive modes by voice command. Very cool!

07:2020.54 update

This update brought voice control over the window function. Initially I thought this was a useless function. Surely, it's easier to press a button than to say 'Hey BMW" etc. But, it is useful as you can open a window halfway or even 'a little bit' with the voice command. You can even open or close ALL 4 windows with one command. This is extremely useful if you want to expel the hot air out of the car when it has been parked in the hot sun all day! Admittedly, you can achieve the same function by holding down the unlock button on the key fob.

Learned yesterday that BMW has finally provisioned my car with a software update OTA, but also learned that there's still bugs in the updated software-- now I don't even have the option in iDrive menus to display Tach in HUD

I realized that you can tap the big section on the infotainment screen where the navigation would be that says 'Navigation is on Android Auto' to go there instead of missing the tiny Android Auto tab at the top...

My sunroof cover started to rattle like crazy on the driver's side and make a sound as if you're clicking a pen. It's particularly annoying since it's right above my head. Deep inside I knew this day would come but I just didn't realize that it would be so soon...

I presume you haven't discovered what is causing the clicking sound?

I have exactly the same clicking sound, but only when closed. Completely silent when at an angle or open.

The lane change bar has a button you can press to change the display on instrument cluster, if you're on the minimal mode it will briefly display everything and then go away after a few seconds.

For me it was the sunroof cover instead of the actual glass but yes, completely silent once it's opened. I haven't brought it in for a check 'cause I felt like the noise is somewhat tolerable and I really wouldn't want to go over the hassle of dealing with the dealership. If the rattle gets more serious I'll be sure to bring it in and see what they have to say.

The camera installed in the cluster really works. It detects if you are looking at the road or not. Even wearing sunglasses

The car will brake earlier if you are not looking at the road, and in drive assist mode it will not start moving.
