I have the same knock/clunking feeling and noise coming from my front wheels (feels like left wheel) I notice it as low speeds while going over slight bumps. Did a visual inspection of steering components everything checked out. Has anybody gotten to the bottom of this?

Dealer could not replicate. They put my vin in for SIB 31 01 20 and replaced the lower left control arm. This did not fix the issue. Otherwise they have been unable to replicate it - and to be fair - it is not super consistent for me. For now I'm living with it. If it becomes more consistent I will try again. I'm hoping that as enough people have the issue, bmw will issue a TSB specifically for this problem.

I just checked my paperwork from the previous repair and they list replacing this part (https://www.onlinebmwshop.com/oem-pa...rm-31106888855). Problem is- this part is listed as the left REAR lower control arm. Going to follow up now to see if they keyed in the wrong part number in the paperwork or if they really repaired the rear of my car when they were supposed to do the front …. |

Drove 150 miles or so last night. Temp around 64F. Highway fine, but local roads 10-40mph the knocking/clunking was really prominent and noticeable. Did anyone with the issue have this TSB fix done?

Got quite a bit cooler here in TX so of course the noise went away since it is normally present when it's hot. Will wait till it warms up in a few days for a diagnosis. For what it's worth, I've found that leaving it in the sun on a hot day almost always guarantees replication of the sound, at least for the first ~5 min of driving. Hope that helps anyone else playing the " technician can't replicate" game. |

MY 22 m340i here. I purchased the car in December of 21, and first noticed the clunk while on stock suspension after 2 months. I then had Dinan springs installed and notice the clunk here and there, randomly but only during slow driving (5-10mph) sometimes while simply turning the steering wheel pulling out of my driveway, or going over a small speed bump. Does not occur daily. Random.
Due to the current supply chain issues and dealership not having loaner cars readily available, I will most likely continue to live with it as it does not occur on a regular basis. Unless of course this develops into s TSB that actually fixes the issue.

From what I've been reading, the only thread with seemingly one solution is this one :
https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1856199 The video on this thread has the same exact noise I have. You'll see one person talk about a tie rod ends replacement fixing his issue. As for me, I drove with my dealers foreman last week and it didn't happen enough for him to "recommend any repairs at this time." He inspected the car on the lift, and didn't see anything wrong. But it's interesting that there was a tie rod recall on this model… maybe we have non-recalled but still somehow faulty tie rods.. And I tried contacting BMWNA by email and got this unhelpful reply: BMW Customer Relations is unable to provide repair instructions as we rely on the technical expertise of the service teams at our authorized BMW centers to maintain, diagnose, and repair vehicles correctly, therefore we suggest to continue working with the service team at your authorized BMW center. I would suggest to speak directly to the Service Manager, as they are in the best position to discuss your concerns further. |

Lol. Literally had mine in for a sunroof problem and got this notice and notified them about the SIB. So hopefully they will just replace it. Problem is, I put H&Rs on after chasing this for so long and I bet they will just come back saying it’s the lowering springs…

Hi all
I have just picked up my 2023 M340, only 1 week down the road. Have been experiencing mild knocking/rattling sound on my steering/front suspension while going on uneven road at slow speed. But does not seem to happen when intentionally going through bumps at slightly higher speed. Anyone having this issue and what’s the fix if you manage? Appreciate your advise 🙏🏻🙏🏻 |
