I can confirm that M seats are electric which includes lumbar support adjustment as well as latteral width adjustment.

Hope this helps.
Awesome I presume that's both front seats, thank you very much for the reply

Hi verysideways are your Mseats Electric adjustment or manual ?

Just wondering as I have specified M seats and Comfort pack plus in my G21,
From my understanding you retain lumber and width adjustment in the passenger seat do you know if this is correct?

On a previous configuration I did with standard seats and Merino leather it deleted passenger width adjustment and lumber even with the Comfort plus package.

Beautiful car BTW saw first on YouTube when Joe Achilles reviewed it.

Regards Neil
Mine are electric, not sure they are even available manual.
Still very happy with them.

Having had to cancel my recent X5 order due to air suspension and Harmon Kardon shortages I have recently turned to the possibility of purchasing a 2022MY X3 M40d LCI.

Part of my option choice was to specify M Sport seats as the standard sport seats are only available with drivers seat Lumbar Adjustment, where as the M Sport Seats have Lumbar Adjustment in both Driver and Passenger. Great I though at last I was able to spec my car with all the options I wanted. That was until I discovered that the M Sport Seats although being exactly the same as what are available in in the M340i/d 3 series, when optioned on the X3 they do not have the option of Adjustable Back Rest which seems odd at best.

This semi conductor shortage is having some weird affects on BMW's option availability and I am ready to seriously consider leaving my purchase until 2022

I Cancelled my GO5 X5 order for the very same reason, I then started looking at options and the M340d took my eye.
Luckily I have managed to secure one with full specification with no deletions brand new only a few tiny options I did not really want was ash Grey interior trim and Jet Black wheels, but I can live with that. I also got wirless charging
Im sure the M340 has adjustable backrest Ive seen them working on YouTube videos seems silly to remove that on the X3M

Nice spec

The only option missing for me would be the Electric Towbar.

I did originally look at the G21 M340d Touring but was put off by the high monthly payments against the low residuals, hence the reason for choosing the X5 which even with £18k worth of extras was only £100pm more on PCP. I also looked at the X3 which I declined on the basis that there was a new LCI model due this year. The X3 LCI is now available but the seats I need have no seat width power adjustment

Please let me know when you M340d arrives if your M Sport Seats have the seat width adjustment....... and dont forget the piccys!

Hi I originally ordered with a tow bar but that order was cancelled due to being told porkies by the dealer they said they had a build slot for delivery 1st September but then it went out to November and possibly into 2022

I found this car in stock by luck and it was built and available im sure the residuals on the M340s will be better than the normal 3's
It says in the build configurator that both Mseats have width and lumber its only the standard sports seats that lose this on passenger side.
Previous posts on this thread have confirmed they are fitted with both.
The car was built in May so not affected by any of the current restrictions.

Retrofit BMW Tow bar is bonkers money about 3k :
So probably have a detachable fitted at a later date

It just does not make any sense to delete the seat width adjustment on a X3 M40i/d but allow it on the G21 M340i/d They are exactly the same seats! However, this option is vailable on the standard seats

As a 'well nourished' old man I cannot have seats without Lumbar or seat width adjustment whichh leaves me with the only option of the G21 M340d which due to spinal issues the lower car level is not feasible!

They just don't have enough parts to offer them on all cars at the moment so they probably just worked out how many they have versus how many they might expect to sell in particular models and then went with that.

Might also be related to supply issues in specific regions - most of the X cars are built in South Carolina...

Love the M Performance seats but didn't like the cheap looking black insert "M" badging. These M Performance inserts come from the X3 (credit to "comber" who did this first) so took a chance that they would be the same for the M340i and sure enough are a perfect fit.

Sadly there is no wiring loom to connect to so illumination is not possible. Part number on the box in the third pic (you need to order x2) but they are eye wateringly expensive for what they are so may put some off but I think it's worth it.

Nice! How expensive is "eye wateringly"?

£90 each from BMW UK parts dept but you can get them cheaper if you search the part number..... just be wary of import duty!

£90 each a bit steep

I think I'm going to enhance mine with some 15x35 fender / wing M badges

This thread has been timed perfectly having decided to trade in my current F40 M135i for an M340i Touring.

I had seen these seats on images of X3 40i previously but didn’t realize I would be able to spec them in my 3 series.

I don’t know whether to thank you guys for enlighting me or curse you all for costing me more money

In all seriousness they look great, and I’m sold.

As my order isn't locked in yet and am awaiting a build slot I am still deliberating colours so went to a dealership (not where i ordered from) yesterday to take a nose about. They had a few M340D saloons in Black, White and Blue in the showroom but not much else 3 series wise. Was hoping to see dravit grey in the flesh but nothing there.

Still none the wiser in that respect unfortunately but I did manage to find a used X3M40i with the M Seats so managed to sit in them to see how they feel.

Both seats were bulging out in the middle of the back and I was pressing every button trying to sort it. I think I figured it was the round(ish) 4 way button with left-right adjusting the sides and up-down the back. Without having a manual (and a clueless salesman with the key) is this right? I got the feeling that the up and down were adjusting upper and lower backrest sections though rather than adjusting in/out. I would like to know if I was on the right lines as the back bulge felt quite odd for me.

Any thoughts appreciated.

The back adjustment is amazing in these seats. The are able to move support up and down the back. Took a few days for me to finally settle on my optimal position, but great flexibility in these.
Plus, they look awesome.

Can I ask does anyone with these have what you describe as 'broad shoulders'. I see these M seats don't have the top section able to pivot back and forth like a 5 series comfort seat or an M5 type M seat.

This has anyone had a bit of issue with the width of the seat please? Must say they look a great option.

I have reasonably broad shoulders and these seats and i have to say i haven't found them uncomfortable at any point, and i've spent quite a few hours in them in the last 5k miles.

Are you IOM based? I would say come over and try them but i'm in Gloucestershire and that's maybe a bit far :-D

I'm pretty broad shouldered, and found these wider than Std seats from the off.
