Btw, the Mac version of the downloader is pants. It will download the files OK, but will then often throw a load of errors. But you can manually unzip the downloaded file and then copy the files/folders to the root of your USB drive.

Even on a Windows PC, unzipping using a third party utility can be quicker than waiting for the BMW software to do it.

still weird that, since you can download it manually, there's isn't a way to force the car to do it...

Might be worth trashing the Mac downloader and reinstalling it from the BMW website to get the latest version? Only saying because mine worked fine the other day both for my Europe Live map and for my wife’s NBT EVO map for her car. Both maps had new updated versions available.

I did. It still got stroppy.

Looking at the complaints from other Mac users I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason for it. It just doesn't seem to like certain Macs.

What Mac OS are you running?

The Mac OS makes a lot of difference, no problem with our new Mac, downloaded quickly then unzipped to the usb drive and into the car. Tried earlier with our older Mac running Catalina and it does not recognise the same usb whatever I did with formatting it.

Hi, New member here.

I've downloaded and unzipped the latest map update via the BMW download manager application successfully. When I put the USB stick into the port next to the cup holders I get the prompt to start the update. The update looks like it starts but then I just get the "loading content" screen. I've been sat in the car for over an hour but nothing seems to happen.

I've got a 64GB USB stick and have tried the update with the USB stick formatted in either exFAT or FAT32.

Am I missing something?

It is probably working, go to the NAV settings and press update to get a progress window.

I can't access the Nav settings menu whilst the update is happening. At my home screen on the nav section it just says loading content and then if I click on NAV, I just get an image of a digitised landscape. Can't see any sort of progress bar.

I reckon I've done the iDrive reset 10 times now. i then restart the update but it just does the same thing.

I've Just called my local BMW dealer and they are charging £80 for a BMW USB stick with the latest map and code or they will charge £140 for them to apply the update.

Don't go down route until you have exhausted others! Mine let me look at update via NAV settings update. If yours dosen't do you have the latest software update?

I did a remote software upgrade when I picked the car up last week. My version is 03/2021.50.

03/2021.50 is the vehicle software mine wont do the remote update for some reason I'm still on 03/2021.30

Get yourself a new USB flash drive, I had one that didn't work in the car but was fine elsewhere. Ended up buying one of these, USB one end and USB-C the other and when installing in the car use the USB-C in the armrest, I presume it may transfer quicker but not 100% sure on that.
