Got multiple USB-C to lightning and USB-C to USB-C options from a 12V USB-C PD plug as the built-in USB-C’s aren’t PD.
Thank you so much! Could you please share a link to this item (if you have) or just give me it's name.

That's my solution

Hello everybody,
here is my solution for the impractical smartphone holder from the IX.
Of course also with Magsafe charger, but also available for Android smartphones.
I find the very elegant and fits very well with the nice design of the IX.
On youtube there is also a video, just search for "ix-phone-holder".

FYI I just received a print of the modified mount that @[roxxor] created (thank you for sending the STL to me!). Unfortunately an iPhone 15 Pro (not Max) in the clear Apple case doesn’t fit on it. It needs another 1-2mm removed from the top and sides because the camera bump on the case is that close to the MagSafe spot.

I’ve tried to figure out a couple of CAD programs to update the model and trim the edges a bit, but my brain just doesn’t seem to work that way. Any chance someone is good with this sort of thing and would try trimming it down so it’s only 1-2mm wide on the left, top, and right sides of the MagSafe puck?

I’m not overly concerned using MagSafe, since I used it to charge my iPhone 12 every night for 3 years and it was still > 85% for max battery, and so long as the display shuts off, MagSafe can provide enough power to keep it charged while doing CarPlay (at least in my experience).

As a followup, I had also ordered one of the PLA mounts off of Etsy. I know it will likely melt if I park in the sun one day, but I was worried the other print wouldn't fit the case (because the clearance was so tight). The one from Etsy fits perfectly for the 15 Pro w/ clear case.

The people that print it say they are working to get some ABS filaments so they can print sturdier versions, and I will definitely be ordering one once they have it. I'll report back when that happens.

I messaged the seller and he said it’s made from PLA+. So, I give it some hope.

I ordered the one off Etsy. It arrived today and it fits very snugly in the slot and doesn’t move. The cutout with the cord wrap pegs is a nice addition. All in all happy with the solution.

Love that minimalist look. I don’t care if it charges or not.
But can you send a photo of the back? The vent blades are super wide on the iX, so I am not sure how you inserted it.
Which model/ref# did you get?

The Etsy one arrived for me today. It took about a week. As you say, it fits snugly and the cord wrap is clever. Works great for my iPhone 15 Max Pro both with and without a case!

Remixed one of the designs I found on Thingiverse.

Decided to buy a MagSafe holder + MagSafe charger. The wireless charging tray makes my iPhone get very warm at times. Looked at the options you all have posted and went with an Etsy seller. He had a neutral and driver-facing holder. Went with the driver-facing. I like it so far.

I got both their regular version and the angled one. Tested the angled one today, and with iPhone 15 Pro I get near-perfect framing for video calls, both in portrait and landscape orientation. I do have to disable CarPlay on the phone to use FaceTime with front camera, but at least the set up works.

I do, however, think that the design of the angled version is a bit strapped together. It's sturdy, but the body of the holder is too large, and the angles that stick out are completely unnecessary, given the sturdy print material. I chatted with the seller about improving the style, and they don't seem interested.

IxIxIx Would you consider creating an angled version of your stand? It feels like all you'd need to do is to rotate the magnetic holder by around 30 degrees, and potentially increase the angle of the charging puck to create more clearance. I can measure the ideal angles to remove the guesswork on your end.

After a couple days I’m happy with the driver-facing mount + charger.

I use Tailwind to control my garage door. My door auto opens when I arrive and auto closes when I leave. It’s only when I pull in I have to manually close the door. Now I can use Siri to activate it and since my iPhone is facing me it works by voice command. Before I had to unlock my iPhone first.

It’s easier to place/remove my iPhone.

Charging speed significantly faster + iphone doesn’t get too warm vs the built-in charger.

Since I got a new printer for Christmas I’ve decided to do my own take on this. Starting from the ram mount base here, I hollowed it out so the cord can be bundled up inside, and added an octagonal mount point that allows the top part to be inserted facing the driver, passenger, or straight forward.

Don’t mind the red, this is just a prototype. I have some black ASA on order for a high temp final version.

I'm currently using the ram mount base you used as a starting point. The only complaint I have with this solution is the cable management.

Can you share your model? I would love to solve this problem with my setup.

Thanks!

This is excellent thinking since it can be used for left and right hand dive markets. Well done!

My only comment would be to try and refine the aesthetic to better match the IX interior.

What would you suggest to better match?

Something to consider is only the Apple puck provides a full 15w. 3rd party MagSafe pucks are limited to 7.5.

I’ve measured mine at 10w. I think this is all changing with Qi2 compatibility.

I have two different nightstand MagSafe adapters that do 15w, a Belkin and a TwelveSouth.
