But if you buy a car with the Adaptive M Suspension, yes, Comfort mode is noticeably refined and more, well, comfortable. It has dampers that adjust the ride on-demand from firmer to softer. It also has technology that senses the road conditions and adjusts the dampers to compensate for bumps, grooves, and potholes. Flipping the switch from Sport to Comfort is an amazing experience. Comfort mode is for the wife and kids who get nauseous in the BMW standard (Sport) suspension. Note that the Adaptive M is a completely different suspension from the other two. It's not some add-on. If you have a car without the Adaptive M Suspension, putting the car in Comfort mode doesn't change the ride at all as it has no damper control. Comfort in a non-Adaptive M car only changes throttle response and shift points. The wife and kids will still get nauseous. |

It saves a ton of gas if you put it in ECO PRO, because it will shut off the engine while coasting. The biggest issue with that, though, is that it puts more pressure on the brakes and less on engine braking.

I am in ADAPTIVE drive mode 95% of the time; the car coasts in this mode when the conditions are met. But most of my routes aren't coastable. So I think this is all subjective. Last edited by zazzau; 10-14-2024 at 01:58 PM.. |

Eco tries to squeeze every last but of mpg and coasts the car even more and weakens the AC but you also get ABYSMAL throttle response… At least In comfort you can downshift and overtake if you need to without the need to switch to sport everytime. For example I got 36mpg on comfort mode only in my M340i yesterday on a 100 mile highway drive. I dont think eco would dramatically make that better. Regarding auto start stop its not smooth at all for me. Last edited by Eric_M328i; 10-14-2024 at 03:47 PM.. |

Sucks that yours isn't smooth. With mine it's barely noticable. What year is your M340 and what software version? |

Its good yours works as designed but yes unfortunately like many others its annoying for me. The auto start is smooth when turning off but the problem is the delayed restart which also results in a hesitation by the car. You feel the car jerk forward slightly. Also when parking at low speeds it just randomly turns off before you’re done parking. Iv heard the new update adds the digital button so lets see. Iv seen a few posts mentioned here and mostly of other series bmws that already have it. (https://www.7post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2127184)
One of the latest updates 07/2024 I believe adds a digital auto start stop Disable button to the idrive 8 menu. Whether the M340s or G2X chassis will get this button im not sure yet. |
