Well damn. That is something new I learnt for the F25. Let me try that out tomorrow and see if it works!

I like the old style turn signal operation, it felt very European-car like and elegant, which was also convenient when quickly switching lanes. The new design is the same stalk as a Ford E-350 rape van, common and not unique..

I guess to each is own...
Since 2005 E90, BMW has been using the same signal stalk design, but they failed to promote how to use it correctly, even the BMW salesman didn't mention how to use it properly on my three times purchases, this lead to users/buyers complaints and finally have to give it up and back to square one.

I was so happy that the dealer that sold me my F36 pointed out the correct way to cancel the turn signal (which is as pointed out above, to press it in the same direction). Gutted BMW got rid of these style stalks as they are much better in my opinion.

Same thing with the wiper stalk, I prefer the auto being on the end of the stalk so that if I want a single press I can just push the stalk down rather than having to cancel the auto wipe to get down to the bottom position. It's just a lot less elegant.

I feel sorry it had to go for G20, I guess most people can't get used to it and blame the ingenious design instead.
Hell, I had my F30 for more than 7 years and I never knew about the indicator stalk cancellation technique! LOL!

I've taken to a twist of the sensitivity wheel to get a single wipe. I struggled with knocking the stalk down two, then back up to auto.

But... I do like that it is always in Auto now and that I don't have to set it every time I get into the car and it's raining.

I push the stock up one and it gives a single wipe. You still have to manually pull it back down once, but it's better than two down and one back up.

Old habit dies hard! People are so used to cancel the signal by pushing to the opposite direction.

I missed the compass in my previous cars rear view mirror, until I realized how easy it is to add a compass widget tile to your home screen. There is one on the second swipe home screen by default (I think) but I like it on the main one -- I changed all the default tiles.

I tried that, just not the same.. would rather they include it on the nav map. If you don't mind can you attach a pic of your setup???

I'll try to remember to take a pic tomorrow... but it's fairly simple.. the first home screen as I have it set up is simply four small tiles:

Music | Compass
------------------------
Clock | Weather

.... at the moment. Not sure if I will keep weather in the lower right, especially since on the second home screen, I currently have the large tile weather view. I'm still experimenting.. I may make the map view the focus of the second home screen. By the time I snap photos of it, it will probably have changed before I can post.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to swipe through home screens using only the manual control knob? I wasn't able to figure it out if so. I hate constantly wiping finger prints off the display and will take buttons and knobs over touch controls any day.

Also, if anyones interested my "radio button" shortcuts:
#1 - Phone in CarPlay
#2 - BMW Spotify app
#3 through #8 are just my favorite Sirius XM stations. But note also that "Hey BMW, play Lithium" or "play 70s" works pretty well -- it will typically find the XM radio station you're looking for.... good for secondary stations that didn't make the cut of #3 through #8.

Just click the dial to the right on the home screen, then scroll right to swipe/scroll through home screens?

How did you assign the shortcut buttons to anything other than radio stations? I tried but get a "can't save" message when I try to save functions on shortcuts.

Thought I tried that, but I'll try again.

It can't let you save a shortcut to, for example specific apps on CarPlay, only to displaying the CarPlay screen itself. So I need to press the "1" shortcut button then tap the Waze icon to get to Waze. I wish I could have shortcuts directly to Waze, Google Maps, etc. but this would be a support nightmare for BMW I'm sure. Shortcuts to iDrive apps should work though, at least it does for Spotify.

The new HVAC setup is awful too. Knobs to control the temp is so much more convenient and the new toggles are WAY too small for adult fingers. Also having the temp control is not under the display! Further, the multiple press system to select where the air is to go is ridiculous.

The red/blue thumb wheel to control the face vent temp was perfect. Charge me another hundred bucks and keep a great function. Maddening.

I have some features I miss:

- steering feel, don't like how numb it has gotten compared to f30. But g20 handles so nicely

- the turn signal, on f30 it wasn't so hard to press it down and back up! Why is it so hard?!

-f30 headlights and the fact LCI headlights came standard on f30 340, where as now you have to get executive package.

-the auto function of windshield wipers

- shift lever from f30 felt better in my hand than g20

- rwd once in a while when I see people drift in their g20s, but hopefully x delete comes out sometime soon

-stock 403 wheels

Things I like over f30:

-performance, handling (but not numbness), color, technology (other than ac menu), speedometer.

No offense, but when did the F30 even have steering feel? Could it be different tires? Its the same rack in both cars, likely tuned differently so maybe it is something else that is very different between the two, but they are both pretty numb in my opinion.

Exactly. If anything the tuning on the G20 is better than the F30 from feeling perspective (not saying it's amazing but comparatively).

I just noticed on another post that he had a modded F30, that could maybe explain the comment?

Maybe but he did generalize as "compared to the F30".

You guessed right, my f30 was lowered and everything so I kind of forgot how the car feels stock. What I meant by numb is that the car feels too smooth, I'm used to a little more sporty feel.
