+1 million for adjustable ASD. Great idea.
Read most of the reviews, they all seem positive but I feel like I basically read a brochure for a new shock absorber design. That's all they really talked about. Not sure how I feel about the digi dash, looks strange but I'm guessing it'll grow on me with time. Looking forward to actual driving reviews later this year.

My 2012 F30 was awful, but my 2017 F30 is fine... probably sorted most issues with the LCi... that's why I'll never buy a new model in it's first year of production (and better to wait for LCi, where most issues would be sorted)

But you're spot on... if it's there it should have volume adjustable down to zero in the iDrive definitely!! Not everyone wants this or wants the hassle of coding! |

Definitely can't hear any artificial sound in my cabin (sometimes I wish I could as it's so quiet in there!!) I read somewhere that the module can be unplugged somewhere in the boot floor under the trim... mine was a brand new car though so should be as it left the factory!! Was the sound there in all drive modes? I always drive in sport mode but rarely sport plus! edit: just a thought... maybe it's only on the auto transmission cars... anyone with a manual notice it?? Yes, that can suck. I had a 2012 334i Msport. I ordered it in July of 2011. The only somewhat larger issue was the extremely high fan speed that would rarely result in some throttle response, or power, loss. Shut off and restart would fix it. They fixed it after a number of cars had the same issue, and then it was good. Other than that my 2012 335i was pretty reliable for the 3 years I had it. My 2016 340i Msport has been great, no issues. Yes, there is still too much road/tire noise when driving on concrete roads, but HK audio fixes that, along with an occasional creak in the dash somewhere. For me both were reliable. Only yearly included maintenance for the 340i Msport. I have no problem with getting the initial first year models. BMW had been great at addressing problems. It can take a bit of time for a widespread issue to be fully acknowledged, but once it is BMW is great with fixing those issues. My experience with other brands is not as good especially Nissan, Ford, Chevy, and the old Plymouth. Audi and BMW have been great in that regard. It's a big reason why I come back to BMW. Too bad the new 3 is so far away and my current lease is due next month. I don't want to extend my lease until potentially April or May of next year for a new M340i. I'm very close to completing a deal on a 2018 Audi S4. It's a very nice automobile and competes very well with my 340i Msport. Last edited by RPM90; 08-27-2018 at 06:31 PM.. |

To all in general: I HOPE that BMW finally includes a driver programmable "settings" mode that the driver can set as default, the way Audi has been doing it for years now. I test drove an S3 and S4 and in both there is an "individual" mode where the driver can select the various options for all parameters that have a range. BMW didn't bother to include that even in the LCI, and really, how much programming effort would that have taken. Overall, I HATE the whole ridiculous idea of driving "modes". It was an answer to a question no one was asking, looking for, nor needed. My 135i had ONE mode, and I loved that car. My first BMW a 2003 325i sport had ONE mode, and it was fantastic, and so did a 2006 A4 sport that I had before the 135i, and it too was very nice. Driving "modes" is a freaking ridiculous gimmick. That's my take on it. Feel free to accept and use my opinion as your fact. Last edited by RPM90; 08-27-2018 at 06:38 PM.. |

If you read the key stats, it reads like the F30 announcement
- it's bigger in all dimensions - it weigh less - chassis is more rigid - M Sport Package includes: 0.4" lowered suspension, stiffer springs, larger staggered performance tires, larger M Sport brakes - volume model 328i/330i is getting more hp and tq They forgot to mention: - msport brakes no longer include fixed 2 piston rear brakes, - eLSD (a braking version is found with DSC off: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=719012 in previous non M BMWs), - the steering still is catered to luxury car buyers - explicitly state the msport suspension will be fitted to xdrive cars too (I think this will happen)
