My 2020 M340i is on 11.2020.50 software and I have all the nanny state systems switched off except rear emergency braking. In particular, all lane assistance including any vibration and active steering is completely switched off. My central “nanny state button” is permanently amber and I do NOT have to reset any of the settings regardless of whether the car is in my own individual driver profile or the “guest” profile.

You can permanently shut it off without coding. Go into Settings and then find the page for all the "Driver's Assistance" related options. I turned off the steering intervention, vibrations, and lane assist crap. I got rid of a previous 2019 BMW with the full blown DAP, and it was not any better. The system, is too aggressive and "jerky" when it tries to correct. I had issues where I let it do what it wanted on roads, and it would actually go into the shoulder and a few times...into the grass. It's a piece of shit option, and I am so glad I can finally turn it off and keep it off. BMW really crapped this one up, and even told me to "steer against it" as their fix (engineers).

In the safety systems. Button 1 in photo below. There is an individual setting which I have used to switch of lane intervention. I’ve left everything else on. Doesn’t reset unless you change using button 1.

For those who are seeing the steering intervention getting re-enabled, does the checkbox get ticked again or is the car defaulting back to
“ALL ON” and not set to “INDIVIDUAL” as per below? |

Used the button on the dash, configured individual to turn off intervention but it keeps saying it will turn off at next engine ignition. No way as far as I can tell to turn it off permanently.

This is the same issue I have. It retains all the other individual settings between restarts but the lane intervention one is always turned back on.

I just watched a video on BabyBMW and it’s definitely changed the behaviour in cars built after the middle of 2020. In it, he disables the steering intervention with just the ignition on and leaves it visible on the screen. As soon as he opens the drivers door, the box ticks itself!

Yeah even if you go into settings it turns back on after every restart.
I've got used to it now but it's annoying and always surprises you. As others have said, it doesn't know if you are driving across the lane dividers to avoid an obstacle like parked cars. In England we have to drive over the middle lines all the time. It's a terrible option. |

I'm also searching for permanently disabling this feature, i don't mind the vibration but having enabled steering intervention option every time I start the car is annoying and dangerous on some back roads with narrow lanes.
If anyone has codes for disabling, please let us know. |

On my car the intervention only kicks in over 40MPH. So won't be tripped by moving out for parked cars or on narrow back roads.
Are other people finding that it kicks in at lower speeds? |

Mine works as you describe so I don’t have an issue with parked cars etc. It’s only annoying if you are legitimately straight-lining S bends when there’s nothing coming. Whilst it turns on again if you turn it off it remembers the level of intervention - set it to the least intrusive and it’s not really a big deal.

Remembers "individual" rather than "all on" and keeps all my individual settings - except the steering intervention which it re-enables by itself every time I get in the car. And because of narrow lanes near me sometimes I have to get quite close to the edge of the road to avoid oncoming traffic, at which point the steering intervention thinks I'm too close to the edge of the road and steers me into the path of oncoming traffic!!!! This is obviously dangerous. I have to find a way to code this out before I inadvertently cause an accident.

But if you have it on “reduced” it hardly wrenches it out of your hands. I admit I don’t like it either but you don’t need to be Schwarzenegger to resist it. Miss Marple perhaps.

Feels the same to me - reduced vibration warning but the intervention is still pretty aggressive! Had two close calls as a result already and I'm not even 800 miles in yet!
