You have to remove the brace. Easy to remove and install if you have the permanent, threaded parts. Kind of a pita but not difficult if you have a nut, bolt set up like the Dinan.
I have the Dinan’s but I threaded the fender holes and used Nutserts on the radiator brace holes instead of buying the 4 series brace so it’s easy. |

I just bought stainless 10x5 allen head bolts. I think 20mm for the radiator side and 50mm for the fender side. I had same allen “lil bolt beauty washers” from Down Star for style points.

Has anyone fitted the BMS (or other brand) Strut Tower Braces on a 2020 M340i using the MST Cold Air Intake?

I “upgraded” to the Dinan bars to satisfy my OCD.
I’ve got the OEM bars in perfect condition if anyone wants to make an offer. |

If the car comes with one from the factory, yes.

i was inspecting the front brace that you bolt the diagonal things to. the stock front brace is not solid. so if you want to install the diagonal pieces you need to swap out the stock front brace for something stiffer?

I installed these today on my 330e. I hit them with some high temp black paint before installing. I haven't driven it yet, but do like the look of them installed.

I believe the M440i is the same frame and comes with these installed, so I don't see how that would be an issue.

Took the plunge and ordered this upgrade for my M340iX.
I see that i have forgot to order the stretch bolts, is it a big deal to use them again? Last edited by Marc R; 04-22-2023 at 09:50 AM.. |

I would think a strut tower bar is preferred. At the end of the day the McPherson suspension just needs to be tied together at the top. A double wishbone essentially has that direct support built into it already but the McPherson does not. I doubt there’s a meaningful difference but i kind of want the strut tower bar for my own.
Anybody have data or knowledge by chance? |

It’s an M10, 1.5 thread pitch. I just used WD-40 as a lubricant while tapping the threads. Shouldn’t need to worry about rust as moisture shouldn’t be able to get in there.

Thanks for your information. Seems like that I do not need to worry about if it is taper or plug thread.
