Happy to hear they got it sorted. Any insight as to where these "shipping pucks" were located as I seem to have the clunk from the front driver come and go during slow speeds. I'll have them check it out when it's in for service but figured I could at least knock this off the list. So strange...

I have the problem again and have an appointment with the dealer on Monday. They replaced both the tie rod and the electronic steering rack last year.

2023 M340 Suspension Knocking
I am having the same experience. Front end knocking at speeds below 25 mph. Doesn’t happen at higher speeds. I took it into BMW to look at it. Replaced tie rod and that didn’t fix it. I took it back. According to service manager they had BMW tech team come look at it and they suggested replacing an electronic sensor that adjusts the adaptive suspension. Noise was back within 24 hours. I have sent this G20bimmerpost discussion thread to the service manager. I will post back after I hear more.

Just giving a follow up, the BMW tech has confirmed the sounds are back and they are replacing the left and right, inner and outer tie rods to see if that resolves the problem.

Circling back on this issue. Have changed both tie rod, sound came back. They then changed the entire steering rack, unfortunately sound came back again 😪. Hope to hear if anyone had any luck to a permanent solution for this. Dono what else could they change next

That’s what they said. Tie rods. They replaced them completely and the problem is gone.

G20 LCI knocking/rattling behind the steering
Hi guys, I am facing the same issue in my G20 LCI, I heard the sound since first week around 400km in the counter, took it to the dealer and they kept it for 3 weeks almost and they changed the air conditioning cover / casing.
The sound kept getting worse and I could hear it even when just pushing on the pedal while the car is parked. But after changing the air conditioning cover I can hear the sound only when driving, dealer asked me to bring it back to the service but I haven’t yet. Will keep you posted what they would say next. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DMy...ew?usp=sharing Last edited by Youney; 11-19-2023 at 08:36 AM.. Reason: adding the video |

I have had my car brought in for some kind of suspension noise 3 different times in the past year - total service time: ~6 months I have put close to 10k combined miles in the different loaners i had.
1st time - loud clicking noise when turning the steering wheel 2nd time - reversing clunk with steering turned like something exploded (same as some have mentioned here) 3rd time - wheel felt lose and clunk when going over speed bumps or uneven service at low speed BMW has pretty much replaced every suspension part there is and the steering rack 3 times. Since they could not pin point the exact cause, they just replaced everything Now, when i accelerate hard and let go the gas pedal, there is this loud shake/noise. Naturally I would think it is related to engine mount or the diff. But i have a feeling it is still suspension/steering related. Not going to bring it in anymore as i only have 7 months left on my lease. Dont wanna waste my time on this anymore. Originally i was thinking about buying it after my lease end. No way in hell i am buying this one. My wife is strongly against me buying/leasing another BMW |

Hard Knock when going over a bump
Checked under the strut boot, I have a 2023 M240, started to knock when i went over a bump. Looked under the strut boot and there were the shipping blocks
you can see what they look like here. Easy to remove, just jack up the tire and you can access the boot. You don't need to take off the tire. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...uine-bmw-part/ Hope this helps. |

I know this is an older post, but, did you have any luck with BMW on the buyback?
My car has been to the dealer 5 times for the same issue. (out of service well over 40 days) I'm starting the lemon law process with BMW NA and just curious what I'll be in for. |
