That's my hope. Scott26 has somewhat hinted at this as well.

The next 2 will likely be closer in size to the e92 than the new 4, which I prefer. The GX cars are getting way too big for my liking.

Neither do I, a brand and model generation image is not a bad thing but please, a coupe and GC need the interior shapes to match the lower, sexier and swooping design of the exterior. BMW is/has been doing this with the 6 and 8 series, the 4 should follow now when it’s no longer the sedan with two doors it used to be.

M 440i grilles

I have been thinking they look OK. Started looking at S5 Audi, and C43 again, but they don't have the engine or transmission the Bimmer does. The Audi grille is bigger. And, I like the interior without too much BS.

I mean merino leather options and leather dash are available but at a steep cost that most people will not spend on this type of car. A fully decked out Individual M340i is a very nice place to be...but not for $80k+ CAD.

We don't get those options in the US sadly. Top trimmed 3-series here get basic leather and a bunch of plastic

Wow you're right. Went to the BMWUSA site to build and it's all "basic options". I am actually surprised that there are build restrictions on the U.S. models.

At least you guys get a RWD option on the M340i!

This I will buy. Current two is uglied by BMW on purpose. Still a good car but they tried to add design elements only mother would love

The current "two" is beautiful. The FWD 1 series sedan that they gave frameless doors to and marketed as a "2 series grand coupe" is hideous.

Not only does the front look horrible it looks like the rear will have beefy hips. Hard to tell with the camo still on but it looks like a lot of metal on the backside. Reminds me of a Bentley GT without the good curves. Almost like the Cadillac CTS coupe from the prior generation.

I've always considered myself open minded about redesigns for cars, but I'm finding it really challenging to like the front end of the new 4 series. It just looks wrong to me.

BMW interiors are similar using the same themes and shapes - each class has its own design. Compare the 3er to the 5er to the X cars.

Then compare the A6, A7, A8, Q7 and Q8. Which is which?

I'm not being confrontational but I don't even know how this is even a discussion of same vs. similar/Audi vs. BMW.
Audi interiors have *some* kind of *oomph* to them though. BMW's interiors usually get dated within the two or three years. My outgoing S5 interior looks just as sharp as day one. The BMW interior is all business.

I wish they had stretched the kidney grilles and made them lower to give the car a more mean stance and aggressive look, kind of like the 8 series instead of making them so tall on the 4.That render reminds me of Porky Pig. Missed opportunity. Hopefully, this grille only lasts one generation.

I would have been interested in an M440i xDrive that looks like this:
