WHAT!!!!!!! Ive never heard or experienced that.. ever! I shot with a 70-200 at 70mm and ad f/4 and got some sick ass bokeh. I cannot duplicate the same dof with my 17-40L http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4.../1-2-07004.jpg a bit over exposed but u get the idea Exif: Camera Make: Canon Camera Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT Date/Time: 2006:12:31 15:37:23 Resolution: 799 x 534 Flash Used: No Focal Length: 70.0mm (35mm equivalent: 114m... CCD Width: 22.20mm Exposure Time: 0.033 s (1/30) Aperture: f/4.0 ISO Equiv.: 100 Whitebalance: Manual Exposure: Manual Exposure Mode: Auto bracketing this taken with my 17-40L you cant even say that its bc my subject was close in the 1st pic bc look at the railing http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f4...IMG_0406-1.jpg exif: Camera Make: Canon Camera Model: Canon EOS 30D Date/Time: 2009:08:16 22:33:03 Resolution: 533 x 800 Flash Used: No Focal Length: 17.0mm (35mm equivalent: 27mm... CCD Width: 22.48mm Exposure Time: 8.000 s Aperture: f/4.0 ISO Equiv.: 100 Whitebalance: Auto Exposure: Manual Exposure Mode: Auto bracketing one of the main reasons why an 85mm or a 135mm is a great portrait lens. Bc of the bokeh it gives off isolating the subject from the background.

That's what RODI meant. You get more DOF with wide angle lenses which means you're able to see more things in the field of vision. Telephoto lenses will give you move bokeh (narrow or shallow DOF).

I don't usually crop or use PS so I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the 2 lingos. So below are 2 pictures (1st one is cropped and the 2nd one is the original), is that fine or is that considered p-chopped?

very different from spatial depth. where what you can't see, means depth. (architecturally speaking)

You've got the muted, subdued look covered. Divide and conquer baby! Now I can't decide if I like this one better with the deeper DOF, or the other one where the scissors start to blur out a little. Hmmmm..... |

Dude you should totally reshoot this because I love the shot, just wish it was clearer. I even like the color matching going on. Don't know if that was intentional but it works haha.
