I don't hate it.
As with so many things BMW as of late, the front just wants to cater to a particular market rather than innovate. But I get it, they're selling cars, and I guess they know what they're doing.

There is no question that this car will remain the benchmark when it comes to performance and driving dynamics, especially the M340i. I am not thrilled with the new DRL design since it's a big departure from any resemblance to the classical angel eyes. But it looks like they added the Hoffmeister kink to the DRL, similar to the rear windows and door handles so I'll give them credit for that.
I drove the i4 recently and I can see myself get used to the new curved screen easily. I still prefer the pre-LCI dash as it is more classical BMW. My biggest issue with the 3/4 series has always been the non-laser DRL design. I really hope they don't put a cost cutting version DRL on cars that are not equipped with the new matrix lights. |

Crazy so many people here hate the curved display. You're going from 8.8" to 14.9" with a better curved screen. It will look immensely more impressive to most people if they did a side by side. Hate that they did away with the 1-8 buttons though. That was unnecessary and probably a cost saving deletion for BMW but I'll adapt. Hopefully with the new cluster and head up display it won't be too bad.

It's just an added distraction on the road trying to pinpoint where you will touch on a screen. Zero tactile feel. Why not just let us use our phones on the road too? |

I was about to say, it's less offensive than the previous base trim but overall pretty gross, but M sport will fix it.

Seeing ID8 in action I really like it, I think they could have done a better job integrating it into the dash for a cleaner look, overall the interior looks pretty good.

How do I know if my dash is clean and dust free behind that behemoth iDrive screen?

I like it for the most part. Definitely going to miss the gear shifter.
I don't recall seeing anything about exterior colors? I was hoping they would offer Brooklyn Grey. Although the car in the photos looks like it's Brooklyn Grey it could be a European model.

All I have to say is I'm very pleased I pulled the trigger and am getting a 2022 delivered next week before this "facelift".
The body changes are alright. I liked the notched headlights and the rear diffuser looks a little weird to me. But that giant iPhone on the dashboard.... |

Hoffmeister kink is everywhere now.
Even in the headlights. It’s ok, the best part is idrive 8, as I had the opportunity to use it a few hours earlier, as I test drove iX. It’s very solid improvement, and going from idrive 8 to idrive 7 in my 21’ M340i really felt like quiet a downgrade. If I had an order on G20 in place, I’d cancel it and wait for the new one, just for idrive 8.

Everything's fine...except the implementation of the kindle fire. If I'm hot/cold I just want to turn the damn knob not *tap tap tap tap tap* a freaking screen. Also my right hand is gonna feel out of place without the gear shifter.

I just don't see the improvement here. It looks like a billboard propped up on the dash. And why whack the shifter? Just...

No, idrive 8 is way more expensive to build for sure.
Way brighter and sharper screen, way faster processor.
