Let's see if there are any further updates after the test drive for the M340i..

Like previous posters mentioned, test driving with/without those extra options, M Performance options do make a difference, even the tires.

Lastly, the M-Performance Exhaust for the m340i just came out.

I've had the F80 last 1.5 years and used it 90% for every day commute and is an absolute joy.
However, would never get it again because it is a different purpose car and I am simply not utilizing a fraction of what it is intended to be...

Cannot even be compared to a non-M vehicle

I appreciate your honesty. I always wanted an M2/M3 but feared that I would not be able to appreciate its true purpose because of the severity of the traffic in Los Angeles. I did end up with an M340i which is quick and also comfortable when needed, but whenever I see an m2 my heart still skips a beat. haha

Is it me or the seats in the G20 are on the narrow side?

I find them to be overall comfortable in the drives of the G20 and G01 X3's I've had. They are definitely bolstered more than competitors like the C-Class or A4, but in the end it honestly depends on your body type/build and comfort preferences. YMMV.

I find the seat backs to be okay but the bottom of the seat I feel like I'm sitting on the bolsters (I'm an average frame and sized guy). So yes to me they seem a little narrow.

Yes that was my butt impression with the 330i loaner I had recently.

Do you prefer the IS seating over the G20? Just curious. I think the IS seats were more comfortable personally and im on the slim side.

Yes and by a pretty wide (no pun intended) margin. I haven't had enough seat time in the M340i yet to say if they are more or less comfortable than my Audi's (initial thought is that they are better than the Audi's). However I found the IS F Sport seats to be one of the most comfortable seat I've ever sat in (in a sporty type car). Perfectly sized seat bottom and seat backs. Perfect bolsters that would probably fit a wide variety of body types. And just the overall shape! Perfect.

Perfectly stated. I feel the same way lol. Probably were the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. I loved that you couldn't feel that 'crack' from the bottom cushion connecting to the back part of the seating, if that makes sense? It felt like a one piece seat. And the bolstering was perfect as well.

IS seats, especially in the f sport trim, are incredibly comfortable, probably most comfortable in this class IMO.

The 3 series seats have that annoying stitching on the bottom that, at least for me, is the culprit to their lack of comfort.

Lol. I should've clarified I meant the F sport seating as that's what I had. Thanks for clarifying.

While I do like that you can inflate the bolstering in the G20, it just doesn't come to the comfort I had with the IS.

Exactly! And I know what you mean about the "crack" not being felt. Since having the IS I've had to inflate the lower lumber just a tiny bit to try and give that one piece seat sensation lol.

Before you get butt hurt that someone might actually want a vanilla M-performance car and not an M car, read my post. For MY USES. Not yours. Mine. I have an M3 and I'm selling it. I don't want a RWD car. I also don't want a high torque RWD car. Doesn't mean it is a bad car for you down in Dallas, but not for me up here in Seattle. Yes you may be comfortable and happy to drive an F80 M all day every day but that doesn't make it the best car for everyone.

We're all adults here who own BMW's getting rattled at one persons opinion about driving a basic 330i loaner car... and everyone's anxious to see what he feels about a M340... common guys just drop it one guys opinion mean that much to you?? I own a M340 and I love it.. I'm sure we all love our G20's one sour grape should not trigger anyone and this post should not have ended up at this point...I respect the OP's opinion, frankly I don't agree but we all have opinions... I had a F30 before and I can say my M340 feels like a step up in every way.

After test drive of new m850i my own spartan 2006 e90 320d also felt soulless, like driving a brick I have G20 330i as company car now, had e90 320d for past 10 years and put 200000km on it. I am happy with choosing G20 330i, but choosing options again I would opt for M suspension and brakes, 255 rear and maybe LSD as that sport line 330i on 4x225 lacks in rear planting and needs more suspension firmness in corners, its almost as “too much” power for stock suspension. The tech and interior is top-notch. Anyway even that G20 still feels soulless after a day with MT07

Talking about reading...and calling me butt hurt
I clearly said I would NOT get it again because of what the car is made for, therefore, not exactly for me and my use. Not because of comfort but because I've experienced the true value of the car maybe 4-5 times in 20 months...
