I have exactly the same problem. Car and app show different versions, and the car doesn’t update. So I suspect it’s more widespread than a simple update error at the dealers.

It sounds to me like the issue may be with 07/2020.54 which stops the next updates working right... The reason the dealer updated mine last December was it had never done one by itself from new... Will let you know what happens next week he seemed confident it will fix the mismatch issues and the future RSU issue. Last edited by stuarttunstall; 09-03-2022 at 05:39 AM.. |

I hope this question isn’t too dumb, but can it be that different variants of our cars use different versions of the software?
I have a Sept. 21 M340i and it has Version 07/2021.40. The car and the App both state that no new updates are available for my car? Does anyone with the same car have a newer version? I have iPhone App MyBMW Version 2.7.0 which was installed one month ago. The App does not seem to show the car’s software version. Does anyone have a more recent version on an iPhone? Does any iPhone version of the App show the car’s software version, and if so which version? TIA |

I think the remote update feature is basically broken. So many people with out of date software. No sign bmw are able to, or willing to, fix it. Perhaps they prefer us going into the service centre for an update, though I can’t think why.

Started with ID7 version 7/2021.50. First visit to the dealer I was updated to 3/2022.71. The A/C problem was not fixed, and they said a brand new one was available in a couple of weeks. Last week they called me and asked me to bring it in for the latest update - now I'm on 07/2022.41. The issue is still there and now I'm getting quite annoyed...although it is nice to be on the latest software, I don't know what is included in the updates, and I can't seem to get the change log to pull up when searching Google. |

Yes. It was a PITA to do and reset, and I might not have needed to do delete (as oppose sign out, if that can be done), but once I did the update came along.

Thanks for the feedback, this might be a way for people to get around the problems. Just for confirmation, from which version to which one did you get an OTA?

So, I have just collected the car from the dealer who have now updated the whole car to 07/2022.45 i think it is... they say it is all ok now but so far the MyBMW app still shows 07/2020.54 so not sure how long that takes to update ...
I have just clicked on update apps and services so we will see, I do have my doubts it is fixed and BMW, the MyBMW app and the car will match. This is how it stands now, car v app. Last edited by stuarttunstall; 09-10-2022 at 10:39 AM.. |

In order for the ilevel to appear correctly in connected drive (either on their servers, or in the app), your FASTA data needs uploading to the BMW backend.
This happens automatically as part of a full vehicle test in ISTA+. What's likely happened is this: 1) They did a full test (you have to do a SW update) 2) They did the SW update 3) They did not do the vehicle test again afterwards (which they should do to clear any faults). If they plug it in again, do a test, then wait and let the FASTA upload, it'll appear almost immediatly. (It's a little bar in the centre of top bar in ISTA that goes through every ECU in your car and grabs the diagnostic data) |

I emailed the dealer to find out why it still does not match... this was the reply, but cant help think I am being fobbed off...
Morning Stuart, Thank you for your email. As part of a full program update, the car’s fault memory is automatically cleared as per your “full vehicle test in ISTA+” The FASTA data is automatically transferred to BMW during this procedure. I know that BMW are experiencing some back-end server issues that may be restricting the app updating. It can take up to 28 days for the update process to sync. You could try the following to refresh the car/ server sync: Using the idrive controller, Select Connected drive menue, Once in the menu, using the “options” button (around the idrive controller), Refresh BMW Services It is good practice to do this on a regular basis (once every few weeks or so) or if you experience any connected drive issues. This will re sync your vehicles information to the BMW servers. Please allow time for the whole process to re sync. |

Bloody incredible how they always blame the back office isn’t it?
I’m picturing it in my mind being like the ‘Complaints Department’ in that classic Carlsberg TV ad! |

Just as an alternative point of view for you. When I had my previous car the local dealer who does all the servicing on it and who I can fortunately trust not to bullshit me was always wary about doing any software updates unless their system flagged it up when the vehicle was checked and specifically required it to be updated. The guy is a senior technician and is thankfully really keen in his work. I remember him telling me once that updating software just because there is a more up to date release was often not a good idea especially if the car wasn’t showing any faults or experiencing any running issues. Often a case of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ !
This has always been my approach personally…..just a thought and only my personal opinion obviously! |

Mine doesn't show it either. My car shows version 07/2021.40 but still doesn't think an update is available.

Is that the latest update from today? Seems they have removed the version for some reason, maybe my dealer is correct, and they do have issues just asked Connected drive what version they see now |
