You need bimmercode or something similar to turn all the settings on to be able to do this

Washed it, detailed it. Its finally broken in. Got an oil change, then I launched it properly with LC. I could feel my brain in the back of my head.

Well... I was running a canyon back-to-back and learned about the heat soak in these damn M340i's, haha. So I'll be addressing that, if possible

I went looking under the bonnet (hood) of my 330i having read these posts in case I'd missed something, but it doesn't have the secondary Li battery. Maybe it's a North America only thing, or something that arrived after my July 2019 build date.

I'm not surprised at the cost. The dinky little secondary battery for the stop-start system in my Jaguar XF was about $750 to replace when it failed at about 6 years old. I didn't bother replacing it as I reckoned I'd never recover the cost with the minimal petrol saved

Engine gets too hot and can't keep itself at a good operating temperature. This could cause reduced power due to a need to pull timing because of higher combustion temperatures or hot intake air temperatures.

edit: I'll edit based on Gaviatrix's reply below. Sometimes heat soak is specifically referring to when you run a car and then stop it while it's still warm. It'll stay hot for a while because it is not getting ventilated the same way as it would while moving.

Heat soak can be useful. 40 years ago I had a Lotus 7 when I lived for a period of time in Oregon. The air filters and part of the carbie body on the car stuck out into the airstream through a cut-out on the left side of the hood. In the winter when the air temp was below freezing the throttle linkage would sometimes freeze up. If I stopped for a moment the heat soak from the engine would free it all up again! I used to wear two coats, gloves, scarf and a WW2 leather flying helmet to drive the car in winter ... Now I have heated seats. That's progress.

You must be doing some long canyon runs and pushing it 10/10ths especially since you're not on track. Doubt you'll find many here who experience that in daily driving. The only car I experienced that on while street driving was a Lexus IS200T. That car would get so hot even the brakes would overheat in 30 minutes. Coming from a BMW back then I was surprised. The car just couldn't handle hard driving and braking. After 4 years of ownership in the M340i, I have never experienced heat soak while street driving. And I do reside in a place where there is summer temperatures year-round.

I pretty much was running it 10/10ths for a good amount of time lol. I don't think it's all that common, no. It's good that you're not having issues where you live. Some people's summer is like 85° lol. I hope you're at least talking real numbers here 👀. Any thoughts on the CSF coolers and heat exchanger? Sounds like I could benefit from it with my unusual driving 😏

I hear you man. I live in the Miami/FTL area so my car is exposed to extreme temperatures practically all year. I have no personal experience with the CSF products but they appear to be solid so I would say go head and try that. Perhaps if your car was equipped with the high performance cooling and track pkg results may have been different. I wonder how much the oem oil cooler and larger radiator would cost from that kit.

I have the same issue, I am debating whether I should buy the battery of now. The dealer said I need Li-Ion battery but my original battery is AGM.
Any Advice for me. I cannot find my AGM battery to purchase. I can only find Li-Ion Battery.

I've recently discovered my decision that M340i is my favorite among all BMWs or cars I've owned. And I had E92 M3, F82 in the past.

I forgot to mention to you, Heisenberg, that CSF has some sort of warehouse in Rancho Cucamonga, which I’m sure is not too bad of a drive for you. Might save you on leadtime/shipping cost if you are able to pick up from them directly.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and just wanted to say something about my new 330e hybrid (at dealer for repair almost a month now) and the mobile app. I would recommend whoever wants to buy a bmw hybrid to rethink about it.
First of all, I got the car last Xmas and everything was great until around April. I opened the app and some notices popped saying my high voltage battery has issues (something like that) and it disappeared right away. I thought it was app error, cuz the car didn't say anything at all.
Then, on 7/5, when I started the car in the morning, it says "drivetrain malfunction" while the battery has a little over half left. Then I made an appointment on the same Saturday. When I returned from work the same day, I found out the battery is not chargeable.
While there was still some juice left, I was able to drive around (short distance) for the rest of week until Friday night, it says stop carefully when the battery died.
The car was toed to dealer Saturday morning, the service agent told me that since it is a hybrid car, it will take couple more days than gas car. BUT till now, I still have no words from them to know what the status.
It will be 1 month by the end of next week and I probably will start the Lemon process..... sigh...

I learned the gas pedal goes to 11.

Finally through the break-in period and have used full throttle (at least I thought it was) a few times, car moves pretty well.

Well last night passing a pickup going 40ish in a 55. Was stuck behind him for about a mile. Finally get to a clear passing zone and give it about 90% throttle. Of course he decided I needed to stay behind him so he floors it...

So I go WOT and I must have pressed harder than normal and there is a "click" and the pedal moves further and the car GOES! I get to another area I can go WOT and I am able to recreate it. After trouble shooting normal items like floormats in the way etc.. I cannot find anything. I google "BMW throttle notchy" and "kickdown".

I read about avoiding kickdown during the break-in period and thought it was referring to kicking down a gear when accelerating. I thought that was a pretty impossible request but now I know what it means.
