M340i Grill on 330i
Hey guys, I'm coming over here from the G80 forum. I just picked up a 330i for DD and am looking to replace the kidneys. I searched this sub for confirmation but couldn't find any.
For those who have a 330i and have replaced their grills, can you please confirm if a M340i grill (specifically the cerium grey) is compatible with a 330i? I contacted getbmwparts and they couldn't give me a confirmation either, even with the VIN. I found a post on here saying that they wouldn't fit due to the active grill. From what I know everything was a direct swap between the 2 models. |

All G20 grills are compatible with each other. All that matters is whether or not you have the surround view camera. You can even get creative with them and do a cerium surround and slats, or gloss black/chrome with the cerium mesh. The grill is two parts: the center of the kidney snap in with tabs to the surround and can be separated.

No issues I've seen. I've swapped grills twice so far: I had a M5 style grill with the cerium gray surround, and now a cerium mesh with gloss black surround. Shutters open and close fine in both instances.

Technically it might not be an issue. Estethical you will end up with an M340i front grill with active shutter behind it with vertical slats. The M340i has a flat active shutter grill.

Just for my own curiosity, aren't all the active shutters flat behind the grill? I haven't been able to check out a 330 to really see what's the difference. The OEM 340 grill is the diamond mesh, with vertical shutters behind it.

Can you post a pic of the M5 style grill with the cerium gray surround? That's a cool combo I never thought existed. Mine is the 330i style grill with the cerium gray surround, prefer it over the diamond grill. Also where'd you purchased the M5 style grill from?

The grill came with a non-removable piece to put the vehicle badge on the grill (like the M cars have) and an M3 logo to put in. I had my brother-in-law 3D print a M340 to slot in there instead.
