Yes, it’s not the best financial decision. But I thought I could live without dynamic cruise control, and it turns out it’s very difficult. Now that they are accepting builds with it again, I did another order (and also picked up HK sound). I’ll miss the automatic trunk, but I think that’s basically the only feature I can’t replicate.

It doesn’t hurt that I like the update they did.

YOLO.

I can foresee next years thread, "Ordered a 2024 to replace 2023" due to the not being able to live without the automatic trunk.

Just kidding....

Enjoy the car!

Guessing your negative equity is moving over to the next car? My credit took a hit since I bought a house then bought the car before my house hit the credit, I’m already at a $917 car note with only 3.9% interest, plus negative equity from my 2016 🤣 I’ll be stuck with this 2021 till it’s paid off unfortunately. I actually would love the idrive 8, but I’ll probably jump to the new class bmw 3 when that comes out

definitely not cheap for me, lol I’m keeping the car I just bought for at least 7-8 years before I even think about a new one. And fingers crossed it lasts me a very long time 😅 but some people have multiple sources of income and can do it ~ and some just do it and understand there will be some (maybe) consequences. 🤷🏼*♀️

The retrofit options for the automatic trunk seem like a hit or miss. Anyone tried using OEM parts to retrofit it?

Also wish to do this myself, but I find it a bit expensive to retrofit

Because a RWD is always preferable to an xDrive unless there is a specific reason (mostly weather related) to have xDrive. BMW didn’t build their brand on AWD cars. They built it on RWD sport sedans.

Preferable to you, maybe. Ever been to Oklahoma? They have weather there!

I’ve driven across Oklahoma many, many times. Yes, it turns out everyone has weather everywhere. Eleven years driving RWD in Chicago winters. Never had a problem. It’s not about the drive system. It’s about the proper tires.

I grew up driving rear wheel drive exclusively in New England winters, and have driven both in recent years. AWD with winter rubber is infinitely better in winter than RWD with winter rubber. Taking weather out of the equation, RWD may be a more pure driving experience, but AWD is faster in almost every circumstance imaginable.

You are right, multiple income.. How I wished I have multiple income...Even then with my newly ordered X5 45e cost around USD 96k based on today's rate and bare in mind I gotten a very very nice deal.

RRP for an X5 in my country is USD 112K albeit is quite highly spec.

With this kinda price and cost of living in my country kept shooting up, we definitely goina choose the car accurately before pulling the trigger. LOL.
