Are the G20 exterior "chrome" trim pieces chrome or plastic or something else?
Another thread discussed "chrome" versus shadow line trims, that reminds me that my SA said those are aluminum.
So I did a quick magnet test and those exterior "chrome" trims, as well as interior door handles and AC vent trims, are non-magnetic. So are those pieces plastic or aluminum(per SA)? I do see pits on some, so they look like some type of metal. Also, the front grill shiny chrome piece also is non-magnetic, that piece looks like plastic based on the rock chips. |

The exterior "chrome" pieces feel as cold as the body panels, so maybe they thin metal shells?
The paint-matched plastic mirror cap, and the "chrome" grille, do not feel as cold as the exterior "chrome" trims. The "chrome" interior door handles, and trim pieces around air vents and climate control, all feel cold to the touch, so maybe they have metal in them too. |

OK I finally checked the monroney sticker of my 2021 G20 330i and satin aluminum exterior trim is listed as a no-cost option, so my car(a US-spec 330i base) does have aluminum trim.
