Muffler Delete or midpipe mod on Lease?

Hey guys I have was thinking of doing a muffler delete on my G20 330i but I'm weighing all the options as of rn. The issue is that my car is on a lease and I don't know whether I'll be able to put my muffler back once the lease period is over. Some of my friends were just disassembling the midpipe I'm their cars and putting a washer in so nothing would go through the resonator or muffler and it'd be easy to put back. The issue is that I don't know whether that's bad for the car and I don't know if the muffler delete would negatively affect the performance and durability of the car. Also, with the G20 having a valved exhaust idk if it'd run a code or check engine light. Lmk ur guys thoughts.
Thanks

Copied from my response to on a different thread. AWE is supposed to release theirs end of fall or beginning of winter if you can wait. They tend to have a deeper tone! They're supposedly going to be doing a touring axleback with a midpipe option. Hoping for a price point around $1,250-$1,500.

I would recommend against cutting the exhaust for leased cars. instead get a full catback system

Did a muffler delete this past weekend on my 330i. Makes a world of difference with the burbles being more pronounced and overall deeper tone from the exhaust. Depends on the dealer but most don't bother to look below the car when turning in after the lease.

I did a muffler delete/axleback and custom-made this past Thursday for my 330e at an exhaust-shop.

He did replace it with two much smaller mufflers so it's not really a muffler-delete but those mufflers don't do much imo.

While yes it's a little bit louder, the drone/resonance is TERRIBLE. At 2500 - 3500RPM it's seriously unbearable. I'm usually not so picky or not like I can't tolerate a little drone but this is seriously bad. Very bad... I highly recomend anyone to NOT do this.

I had my seats down on my motorway home to fit the stock muffler and with the seats down it was just killer. In a very bad way... This is not BMW, it sounds like crap.

Not sure what to do.. I guess we need to find another solution to not have that really bad drone, anyone has suggestions?

Either we continue building to find the right sweetspot or I'm just reverting back to stock. Feels a little boring to go back to stock and have done nothing though.

All I wanted was a little more sound, not a undrive-able car at those rpm's.
As it's not only on motorway that's pronounced but also in city..

This is what it looks like and sounds like at idle/revving. Not too terrible there, but once put some load it's a different story.

edit: sorry I can't upload a video, no idea how to do that.. I'm a newbie at forums and attachments doesn't seem to work with .MOV file.

Question: Does anyone know what that muffler is in the middle of the car? Is that a second cat? OPF filter? resonator?
We didn't touch that one as we were unsure of what it is..

That's right, forgot about Youtube!

Just now recorded one below.

Am I crazy or is it so that an exhaust can change after a little while, I kind of feel like the drone is not crazy anymore? Still a little annoying but not insane like it was before/first ride..

maybe the opf is in the middle resonator? I'm not sure, but the middle resonator looks strange.

Started following your post now. Have been researching a bit about the exhaust of the G20 as by now, there is more info on google.

That big thing in the middle is the OPF(GPF)+Resonator.

Those small mufflers you have now, what size are they?

Did you notice a sensor in the OPF? Would it throw a code/CEL if you would eliminate it along with the middle silencer?

Me too. Also wondering if it throws up any ghost errors or a CEL or anything.

Nice. The think in the middle is OPF with sensor. If removed, it will generate error code due to different pressure. I like your deep sound (although mostly in the lower rpm for some reason). It seems you kept original resonator and replaced big muffler with 3 small ones. I'll get straight pipe from OPF in 3 weeks. If not enough sporty then Cool Air Intake with Turbo high flow inlet pipe will follow. This car is too quiet. My wife asked me if it is an electric car

I've gotten both a muffler delete and resonator delete. The resonator does have what looks to be some form of a secondary cat inside it but there were no error codes once it was off.

It sounds very very good for someone it is too much of hard bass (< 100Hz) but I like it a lot and looking for further enhancement.
Since I got both resonator and muffler deleted in the same time I cannot give you the answer.

My 320i doesn't pop at all. Resonator and muffler delete is not changing it since pops are controlled by ECU.

Same with my G20 330e. And it has the engine code ending with B, i.e it had the 330i engine. But must be BMW who chose not to add pops on the e then?

Have you tried mapping it in with bootmod3 or mg flasher? Very curious if this works!
