If Porsche can bring a full EV Macan with all the driving dynamics as ICE GTS, I've no hesitation trading in ICE GTS. Taycan will gives us some clue on that.

I cross shopped a macan gts and the P3, test drive them back to back. The gts was slow and the steering was way too light. I mean lighter than E92 M3. Itís not a sports car despite what Porsche says. Any M3 performs and handle better than the Macan GTS, let alone the P3.

However if you are looking for a reasonably performing small SUV itís a good choice.

As for the EV Macan they will sell tons - assuming they get to market anytime soon. Meanwhile the model Y performance will hit the market next year.

Are we comparing apples with oranges here? The Tesla was not build for the track.

Vehicle.Virgins also made several videos on how much he loves Model 3, but you chose to post the one that shows all the negatives? These YouTubers always make a positive and a negative top 5 like/hate videos. Do realize he likes it so much he did reviews of both white and black Model 3s.

Public should be aware of potential quality issue especially around security of the product in order to improve upon it. We bashed BMW from time to time also as we want it to be better. If we want Model 3P to be as-is quality, then we just keep watching top likes video.

Would like to see what Model Y has to offer in terms of design (interior/exterior) and performance number on March 15. It will give iX3 and EV Macan a reality check on future EV competition in this segment.

I have driven the M3P last Saturday and it is a great car, it is a great daily driver but there is just something about the M3/M4 that Tesla does not have, the M3P doesn't wow me. Nevertheless it is very innovative but I don't think it is fair to compare a M3P with the M3/M4 or vice versa. The acceleration in the M3P is fantastic to such a point that I could even feel it in my stomach when flooring it, something I don't feel in my M4. My wife said that the feeling in her stomach is the same in the M4 as in the M3P

Yep there's some truth to that but the whole thread is about G80 M3 vs a Tesla so..?? :

Imho the M3/M4 was also not entirely made for the track but BMW needs to sell cars. You can modify the F8x for the track but that’s imho what the GTS is for. People complain about the fact that the M3/M4 is not fully ready for the track which I find a ridiculous statement and they start comparing (in other threads) a Porsche that costs as much as the GTS with the ‘normal’ M3/M4.

The P3 has a dedicated "track mode" which was developed in partnership with Randy Pobst@MT. He tuned it "to be quicker than a Ferrari around a racetrack".

The 3P may be faster for daily driving but I want my accelerator pedal to make the car go waaaaAAAAAAAHp... WAAAAAAHHHH.
haha

I'll probably put my wife in a Tesla Y late next year.

Honest i think it'll be better than the ICE GTS in every way except for full on track attack and max range, the need for charging is also there.

That's just the compromise you have to make on BEVs with the current cooling and battery tech.

Will most Macan owners care? My guess is they won't at all. They want an alternative to Tesla that's just as good, and Porsche will deliver.

But Porsche must've decided they are willing to take these risks otherwise they wouldn't be so set on Macan going full EV next gen.

Yes off course and it is nice marketing. But they took an already manufactured car and adapted the software to make it more track ready but the car was never engineered nor designed from the ground up to be a track car. Main goal was and us to bring an EV car to the Ďmassesí and steal customers from the german brands among others.

The car was designed to be a high performance sport sedan which is track ready. Similar to the M3, but only better performing. The track mode software was always planned, and rolled out after the launch - something Tesla does constantly, and the cars just keep getting better and better.

If by track ready you mean it doesn't have a punishing ride, then you may be right. If the car is beating a 458 Italia and Guilia Quadrifoglio, it's enough of a track car to me.

But are the Ferrari and Alfa catching fire and burning their drivers alive?

I have no interest in converting anyone. I'm only presenting facts, something that appears to be sorely lacking in these discussions. Smart people can make their own decisions :-)

Like the post above that references one Tesla that caught fire in an accident, yet neglects to mention many more vehicles of other brands that catch fire. For example:

BMW to recall 1.6 million vehicles worldwide over fire risk

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/23/bmw-...fire-risk.html

or this one:

South Korea to ban some BMW vehicles over engine fires (https://www.bbc.com/news/business-45191874)

Or the fact that the Tesla Model 3 is the safest vehicle ever tested buy the NHTSA (and Model S is second and model X is third) -

Performance numbers should be a bit slower than the 3 performance, I'm guessing 3.4-3.7 0-60 and maybe 11.9 quarter mile.

Styling I guess we will see in March (or maybe tomorrow?).

Likewise, if you believe the f80 is a more track worthy car then good for you. And good luck.

Iím sure the model 3 is faster for one lap but every track day Iíve done has been sessions of 10-25 laps, a break for about the same time to run a different class (motorbikes, open wheelers or whatever) then back to the track. This means 2-3 tanks of fuel in a day.

How many laps will a model 3 do in a day? Or do you need three of them so two are charging or cooling their batteries and one is driving?

You canít tell me a better track car is one that can only do a few laps for about half as many sessions due to the Powertrain overheating and running out of Ďfuelí then taking hours to recharge.
