After a couple of months thinking I have finally taken the plunge. After getting a good deal with the resale of my car I have placed an order of a G21 M340d.

Not much to fault there. Great spec

I placed an order for G21 diesel also, just waiting for build slot

I went for oxide grey having seen one up close…the configurator definitely doesn’t it show it correctly…I have technology pack, comfort pack, drivers seat lumbar and shadow pack…couldn’t believe drivers seat lumbar extra.

Think the oxide with black wheels and shadow line pack looks great. Just enough contrast between colours…mineral great too

Exciting times ahead for us then.

Fantastic colour Oxide. I really wanted to go with that colour but in the end I got the pan roof instead. Really excited. I’ve watched the reviews on YouTube by Joe Achilles and no one has a bad word to say about the 40d. I am also thinking about putting the m performance rear spoiler and diffuser on. I think it changes the whole look of the car. I think we are in for a long wait, I don’t envisage the car arriving until at least January.

Congrats on that order, it’s a decent spec.

I had Mineral Grey on my previous 335d touring and have now ordered an M340i touring in the same colour (2 year gap in between with white M135i).

The M340d has had a number of good reviews so you really can’t go wrong

It's on the devil's fuel, as we all know.
And despite the huge low down shove of the 6 pot diesels, there is nothing like ringing out the glorious masterpiece which is a b58.

40i or d; there isn’t a wrong choice really. 40i for me; but would have been completely happy with the d.

Interesting that you were able to spec the HUD. Just heard from my dealer that BMW will stop supplying them due to the chip shortage in the m340i/d. I'm still holding out that they won't remove HK from my m340i order that I placed last month although I've heard that may be getting removed too. I have a build slot on 1st December

I was told that only the m340’s would come with HUD if any other derivative then the HUD would be removed.

Hey everyone, I also ordered an M340d Touring back in July. Originally was supposed to be delivered at the end of November but heard the other day it won’t be coming until February/March now.
The salesman at the dealership, at the time, said there were two options it won’t come with as a result of the semiconductor chip shortage. Wireless charging, and the digital key option.
As far as I’m aware, everything else was there. Fingers crossed.

No lead time given. I was told later on this month I will be given a build slot. I was told not to expect the car until the new year.

First post. Put my order in for a G21 M340d back in mid-August and was originally given a build week of Week 40. That then shifted to Week 6 2022 before being put back into the ‘order bank’. New slot appeared on the system today - Week 18 2022.

No indication yet if any of the currently deleted items such as the lumbar/width adjust for the front pass seat or wireless charging will be reinstated by then.

Car should be Mineral Grey, Tech Plus, Laser lights, Comfort Plus, Pan roof, towbar, black vernasco w/blue stitching. Might change to Oxide Grey.

Just about to put order in for M340D, with assurance that the HK , HUD will not be affected by this chip issue, , its a fairly high spec im going for,Sapphire Blk, Pana roof, M sports front seats, tech pack, comfort pack, park assist plus,shadowline plus pack and blue brakes. What kind of deposits has anyone been paying for their order, im looking at a 2k down, anyone had any decent discounts offered.? Likely due delivery in march if order placed this week....

Rumour has it build slots from Feb, Mar might be OK for M cars. M Perf less known... A build slot this year probably unlikely to have HK, HUD (or eBT, Hotspot, wireless charging).

Just changed our order to Oxide Grey with Mocha interior. No change in the date yet (May ‘22). Still missing wireless charging, digital key and lumbar support/backrest width adjust for the passenger seat according to the BMW ordering system. I noticed earlier that the Configurator has now lost the Diesel engine option too. Petrol only. Could be the delays are now taking it beyond the LCI SOP date so no more orders? It could equally be the usual mess in the Configurator of course.

PCP interest rate has also increased from 2.9% to 3.9% on new orders.

Things are getting worse. BMW Dealer has just told me that from week 42 production, all 3 & 4 series cars will lose touchscreen functions and reversing functions from the iDrive with System 7. Those with orders ‘in flight’ will be offered a £500 rebate. Affects System 7 equipped vehicles. There’s no end date for this ‘temporary’ removal and my Dealer tells me that there is nothing that they can do to help. I’m going in this weekend to discuss options, including cancellation.

I will likely either look at a different model, or even defer until the LCI comes on stream.

Wow so you ordered in August and are being told a May build date? 9 months to be built and a bunch of options removed..while some people seem to think theirs will only take a few months.

I ordered a m440i last month, I'll give it a week or two to see if I'm contacted, then I'll start pestering both the dealer and bmw uk for updates. What I don't want to happen is to wait months only to have them change the date/order nearer the time assuming I won't back out as I've already waited so long.
