Is it true they only goto baltimore then transport by land? i figured the port would be in NJ too..either way cant wait!!

Even mine's on ship headed to baltimore. Ship arrives at baltimore on 8/17.

Not sure if they go to NJ. Havent heard of it yet.

It'll be worth thr wait though.

Been almost a weeks since port arrival, hoping it comes sooner than Monday but yes it is worth the wait!

Mine is on that same boat (Glovis Cardinal right?). I’m in NY as well. They’re going to the NJ VPC next. Originally it was supposed to be there 8/7, then got delayed to 8/12, then delayed to 8/17.

i spoke with bmw genius this AM & said its scheduled to arrive there 8/17 still - not sure what the hold up is, it docked 8/7 supposedly and baltimore is only a few hours from the VPC. its killing me lol

Ugh my ordered car is sitting at the Bremerhafen port for almost 3 weeks now. I feel they are delaying the 2021s on purpose. My dealer still has 2020s coming in.

I will be picking up my 2021 on Tuesday. Currently down at the port of Galveston. Mine sat in the port at Germany for about 2 1/2 weeks. It can be frustrating since it clicks along pretty good on the tracker in the first half and then just slows right down at the port.

glovis cardinal is finally at the NJ/NY port as of 7am today

So does this go port > VPC > Dealer? Dealer is only 30 min from the port, hoping I can pick it up this week.

Yes, correct. Vehicle goes to VPC before heading to your dealership. If you have any port-installed options or if there is any minor damage that need to be corrected it will obviously take a bit longer at the VPC.

sweet thanks - first time going thru this, how do i know if any of the options are port related? also (wont do this) but is there a way to ask for options now that its at the port?

You should know if you have port installed options; they aren't the usual options available on the BMWUSA website. You would generally need to ask for them specifically. The options are things like the M Performance Exhaust, side skirts, carbon spoiler, etc.

My understanding is you can add port-installed options to your order up until it arrives at the VPC. This thread discusses many port installed options with prices. Be advised that the linked list is slightly outdated, as I know there are several additional port installed options available for '21s that are not reflected there. If you are interested in adding something, you should reach out to your salesperson.

Yours is about 4 or 5 days ahead of my schedule. Fingers crossed that it won't sit at the port awaiting onloading for several weeks, as it appears some of the Mexico cars did last month!

I've seen that they usually sit for about 8-10 days, there's a theory claiming the reason why Mexico builds sit so long at the port is to offset the difference ordering from Germany. I'm hoping for September we get some type of incentive 😅

Mine sat at at the mexican port of veracruz for 10 days before getting on a ship

Yes give it about atleast 4-5 days between checking in on updates. It's pretty slow at this stage of the process.
