Brake Caliper 'M' delaminating

Hi,

Is anyone having an issue where the 'M' on the front caliper is wearing away and showing through as blue?

I know it was a fairly common problem on the F30 but as the caliper design is different I cant seem to find too much information on a similar problem with the G20.

A visit some time ago resulted in the dealer putting a note on my account but stating its possibly from external influences i.e hand car washes etc.

Given the car has only been washed by me with PH neutral wheel cleaner and soft wheel brushes I don't buy into this theory.

No problem with any of mine and like you I call out the note placed by the dealer as the cause as highly dubious.

Seems to be more time related than mileage after adding a post to the Facebook group. Everyone on there who has the same issue has a car around the 2year old plus mark.

Hmm. Could be that year or month of build's issue then? March '19 and just shy of 18K on the clock here.

Mine is March 2020 and still fine. Do you wash your car or use one of the hand wash places? On my old X5, I used to have issues with the alloys delaminating round the centre and wondered if what they were spraying on them pre-wash was too strong.

Always washed myself with either the BMW wheel cleaner or McGuire's alloy cleaner. Also only ever used with soft wheel brushes.

The dealer said the same thing about hand car washes but given its never been near one I don't really buy into that.

Mines a June 19 build. Registered Jan 20 and 22k miles on the clock. It started doing this around September last year though when the car was circa 15k miles.
