Did any one else notice rear roof fins seen on the latest G82 prototype photos?

Ya all are beating the grill to death— get over it already!

Built for serious track speed . I can’t wait to hear the reviews from the camouflaged cars Scott26 said will be driven by the press ahead of official reveal. For sure there will be track sessions somewhere warm and dry.

And the car looks really good coming off the truck with it’s short front overhang and low roofline while being reasonably compact.

I guess we need to be patient another six months or so before we see those pre-launch drive impressions. Sigh...

Side profile (mainly the kink) looks more like an Audi than a Bimmer. If there was no caption for this photo, I could've guessed this was a new A5 coupe!

Do remember that there exists extra cladding to hide the actual lines. We aren't seeing the full scope of this car's muscularity.

In general the concept looks like a mashup of an A5, Q60 and giant grills, and it looks like they've gotten rid of the cladding over the rear window of the test models as the "kink" can be seen in clearer detail when zoomed in. Even if it was cladding, which I doubt it as this looks different than older test cars, it will still look similar to that of the concept which looks similar to an A5 and Q60.

Poochie is right again. The 2020 m340i grew in length by 3 inches over the 2019. So it is safe to assume the G80/G82 M3 and M4 will grow by the corresponding 3 inches. The cars look huge in pictures, I can only imagine how big they will look up close. Plus no DCT is very disappointing. The X3M may have more sales due to current market conditions.

If they put a proper, higher revving engine & DCT and all of the carbon fiber goodies that came with F8x I wouldn’t complain. The front grill amplifies our anger on top of the lack of mechanical attention that previous cars had.

The car is supposed to go on sale next year yet there isn’t a single mention of how the engine responds to different altitude and high lateral G corners, how the transmission reacts to user inputs. Or how the car will be totally different from the very disappointing X3M.

I don’t give a shit about gesture control or massage seats in an M3.

Ya you know something makes me feel like bmw is gonna try and pull a fast one on this model, try and distract people w Ooohs and Aaaaahs, trying to pickup that new clientele base we figure is part of the redesign. I can't help but fear that they've lost the rawness and pureness that an M car used to have and now it's stuffed full of so much god damn worthless electronics ... I could go on but u get the point, this will def be a wait and see and most likely have an M3 CS on back up that I can jump to in a jiffy if this continues to go south.

I want more true driver car, less spaceship. Otherwise I'd just get a reg 5 series.

So I take it you'll be opting for RWD/MT since you're emphasizing so much control and driver involvement?!?.....so much rawness?!??

ill wait and see what combos the actually do offer but yes ill be leaning toward RWD ... short version is theyre gonna need to come up with some kind of old school magic to pull the F80 i love out of my hands.

Don't they always? Each iteration of ///M is objectively.......and significantly..... better than the previous model. Subjectively is another story.

It's looking similar to the 2020 TT RS front end.

Yup...mixed with Focus RS, Mustang and retro BMW kidney grill implants mixed with a Hyundai Genesis coupe meets Mustang side to side-rear!

^This seems to be forgotten quite often.

Plus, you can always not go option heavy and make a stripper-ish version.

One thing I’m sure of, it will be nothing like a regular 5 series. One look at any of the ring videos make this crystal clear. The 5 series is a tire torturing, brake melting boat on the track at those speeds. The G80 looks agile and athletic in comparison.

As for rawness I suspect you are right to some degree, my F80 on passive suspension is significantly rawer than my E90 M3 was also on passive suspension. The F80 is stiffer and noisier and the interior materials feel like they are made of varnished cardboard clad in merino leather. The E90 felt all steel and vault like in comparison.

What will the G8X feel like? My guess is that the passive suspension is gone and that the suspension is more comfortable and the car less noisy on the street in comfort settings making it less raw than the F8X in some aspects. Interior feel I guess will remain varnished cardboard

People complain about how the new M3/4 will lose it's raw feel and focused too much on tech.

Honestly, I welcome the new tech and see it as a plus. For a daily driver, I see the new suite of BMW tech to be a vital necessity. I wish they would just filter it down on all of the previous gen models.

All the tech in cars these days make them one and the same. Quite sad really that tech has become cars USP, screens for this, gesture controls that, active parking radar assist, massaging seats etc.

I find all that incredibly pointless and dull. Certainly won’t be buying into all that crap. Rather have a more focused pure experience. Probably why I love my M4CS, every journey feels unique and special.
