I got a better one.

Dual Fucking Clutch transmission for RWD version.

Please see this thread.

It is important to keep in mind that a lot of what you see on automotive media sites is cribbed from enthusiast forums like this one where insiders post information. However, those sites often do not follow developments closely, so they don't always have the most current information. Your best bet is to read this forum. At this stage, there are only a few active threads so it should not be difficult to keep up. This way, you'll benefit from knowing the very latest since, regardless of where the info comes from, if it is trustworthy it will be posted or reposted here in very short order.

Same. I'm already eyeing a few CPO 911s. I would prefer not to switch unless they leave me with no options. Zero chance I would drive an auto ZF8 M3/M4.

Here’s my opinion on that:

These forecasts have been very good and this post spells doom, IMO.

I am withdrawing most of my forecasting on G8x M3/M4. It appears the lineup has been significantly reshuffled, with at least one version cancelled for production. Furthermore, I can't figure out the new situation well enough to describe it in detail. Therefore, I can no longer guarantee neither RWD nor manual models.
They're not going to get rid of the automatic version, of course. Nor are they going to get rid of the Competition, of course. Maybe they'll get rid of AWD? But I doubt that. They have to advertise those sick 0-60 and 1/4 mile times that sells cars to the wannabe racers. And we know that drivetrain option is already available on the similar platform X3 M. And there are still plenty of people in warm states that want a RWD M3. It'd be crazy to only offer it in AWD.

The most financially sound decision would be to axe the manual option, right?

So the X3M Comp and X4M Comp won't get a DCT? Isn't that odd?

This realy sucks big time!!!
Why can't BMW say what decisions are made ( hard to believe they will decide last minute before production) so people can decide to wait or move on!!!

If not... I'll probably get a 911... probably the biggest reason I never got a C63 and loved my F80. Need it to add that extra bit of enjoyment and drama.

No Fn way that engine cover will last on track unless the motor mounts are solid. That motor has to move under heavy braking and turning more than that.

Probably just basic drop in filters! I can't imagine how they would possibly make a intake?

The B58 has a compression ratio of 11:1. With a twin scroll turbo. It has much less lag and would be nicer to drive.

Not at all. No BMW SUV has a DCT. In fact, as far as I know, the only SUV on the market with a longitudinal engine and a DCT transmission is the Porsche Macan.

Furthermore, if you read the other threads in this forum, you'll see that prevailing belief is that all future BMW M vehicles will have the ZF8 automatic.

Seriously??

Are you also wondering Why won't Apple release details on the next iPhone 11 yet ??

In each of those cases they have a set timetable to release information , and it's generally a few months before sales begin that they release product info. Until then it will be hints or innuendo from the manufacturer.

You certainly get a lot more hints on BMW products than APPLE products by the way.

Stick around here as it seems to be the best place to collect info .. or if that drives you crazy then find a new hobby to occupy you until you hear about new cars from a car magazine.

Apple products and cars are so different because off cost.

I am spending about 150k a year on M cars.

The point is, they already told us about MT and CP and AWD and months later comes down to not sure for MT

If they planned to do MT they needed to start that development last year and spend big bucks for testing and development. Which means they could say MT is coming out for sure.

Product pricing has zero to do with the equation. Who will sell more QUANTITY and make more PROFIT? Apple on the iPhone or BMW from the 3 series. ?

Yes of course BMW COULD say something , but they WON'T . Which isn't a big surprise because they HAVENT. When they do say things it's hints and rarely confirmations.

For the last 3 decades BMW has tried to drop hints about getting rid of MT. They did it with the last 3 generations of M5 , finally killing 6MT By bringing in X drive as it has gotten bigger and bigger approaching 7 series size.

As the M3/M4 have approached and now reached former 5 series size , BMW is now trying to do the same with the M3/M4, considering M x Drive will likely kill off 6MT.

The M3 and M4 are far too large for me, but BMW has also in their infinite market wisdom also decided thus far not to bring in a small compact sedan in RWD as an M2 sedan.

Because They turned the M3 into a boat with the F8X generation. A compact RWD M2 sedan would still be a perfect item to have 6MT just like the M2.

A G87 coupe only without a "G85 - subtract two from the model number for the additional two doors - " sedan just seems silly to me.

The day has already come that BMW has refused to make a compact sedan in RWD.

When people accused BMW of " losing its way " throughout the early 2010s I resisted that kind of talk. Now however, I am far more convinced.

I doo agree.
I sold mine F90 M5 because I want MT to take it on track every weekend if possible.

But yes the cars are just blowing in size and weight.
I guess people could plane better if they have just a little more info.
Like MT is coming for sure but not known if is with CP model or AWD and do on
