I'm even considering the m3 now due to the availability of AWD.
Not everyone can afford a M3. I'd love to buy a G80 M3 Competition with M-Xdrive. But I can't afford it. And it is stupid to pay more to just get rwd bmw.
If the price difference was give or take 5k, why wouldn't you be able to afford a base m3?

If options your thing then yea it wouldn't make sense.
You also need to consider the residuals and lease rates. It's not apples to apples. M cars have worse residuals and higher lease rates so a $5K difference in reality is a lot more.

RWD is not coming out anytime soon. Per the order guide:

Please note: The BMW M340i RWD variant will be unavailable at launch. Future availability TBC.

Why you would buy a RWD car in Canada is beyond me, though. You might as well wait for the M3, the one major advantage of the M340i over the M3, other than price, is AWD.
That is so disappointing

One of my favorite things to do in the winter is to head out before the plows have made it out and slide around. I had a 2010 135 and it was so much fun. There was literally nobody on the roads or sidewalks where I live and I enjoyed myself while not posing a risk to anyone other than myself.

I do the same thing in my F31, and its still fun, just not as much.

On another note, I noticed that the LED Adaptive lights are no longer available, which is kind of weird as their full functionality is on the cusp of being approved in North America.

BC has a luxury car tax but it's 10% on vehicles more than $57,000, 15% on vehicles more than $125,000, and a 20% on vehicles more than $150,000.

The Ontario NDP had proposed a 3% luxury car tax on vehicles more than $90,000 during the last election.

Eh, BC has had it for years. I don't mind it, it's pay to play.

Don't forget that the taxes only apply to the full purchase price. If you're leasing you only pay the taxes (including the luxury tax) on the lease payment.

Because AWD makes for terrible track cars.

I don't see it that way. Compared to Europe we get off lightly. Of course I wouldn't complain if the cars were suddenly 50% less but nothing in life is free. I can afford it so I don't mind paying.

So a M340i in White with ZMJ Driver's Assistance and ZGT Premium Enhanced is within $500 of a Tesla Model 3 AWD with no Autopilot.

Is BMW's Driver's Assistance package at least equal to Tesla's autopilot? I've been on the fence between the Model 3 and the M340i and this BMW pricing is not making my decision any easier.

In quebec the Tesla model 3 is way less expensive then an M340i when you factor the 8k incentive and fuel savings... but they are really different animals...

I'm in Ontario and our new Premier cancelled the $14k rebate last year. Otherwise it would've been a no brainer. I wanted AWD so I couldn't buy it before DoFo became Premier.

Same for me. I was in market for 530e with 7000 rebate. But he cancelled it so more people cam burn gas. What a way for Ontario to go backward

Nothing touches Autopilot, everyone else is playing catch-up.

I would love the Model 3 if it offered air suspension and a black headliner. I am even okay without air, but that beige headliner is awful with the interior choices.

M sport suspension is specifically mentioned as standard equipment with xDrive. Is this also with a 10mm lower ride similar to the RWD or does it ride higher like previous models?

The only reason I opted for a RWD E90 was for the M Sport Suspension that is not available on xDrive vehicles. If the G20 remedies that, I'm all in.

Hopefully it's the same one like the M235i/M240i xDrive.

X-drive version has the same height now as the RWD with M-Sport package.
