Wonder if a MPPSK will become available to pick up additional HP/Torque? That may resolve the exhaust tip concerns.

Apparently they rounded down to 5000 rpm from 5437 (assuming approximately max torque figures at that rpm).

Manufacturer hp/torque figures are just estimations anyway. BMW's output figures for the last couple generations of 3 series have been low compared to most values measured via dyno.

Sensatec seats? So having given us that dreadful Dakota stuff for years they have finally given up and put real fake leather in, rather than real leather that looked fake.

In a 50k car....

I'm not sure I understand your question about a MY19 xDrive. There will be a MY19 330i xDrive model but no M340i models period until the summer.
The model year convention agreed to by the manufacturers is that the model year is determined by January. If a model is available in January, that is the model year. ie: A car available in Jan 2019 is a model year 2019. A car available Feb thru Dec 2019 is a model year 2020.

Even though I love my first gen 340i; I'm still intrigued enough to test drive the RWD model next summer for comparison.
I'm actually not surprised to see this narrow of wheel because they seem to optimize towards the small end to reduce weight as long as it fits the target tire width

I think what is disappointing is that they didn't go with wider tires,

Not necessarily true. There are instances of vehicles that have become available after January and did not adopt the latter available model year. One example I can think of off the top of my head is the MY2008 M3 which went on sale after January 2008. There have been many other instances from BMW and other manufacturers as well, in some cases even when the car comes onto market near mid-year.

I agree that automakers usually choose to take advantage of the later, "newer" model year, but it is not always the case.

Not only Sensatec on the seats but also Alcantara. Cheap material they use in stuffed toy animals they give a fancy name to.

People are so fascinated with the cheap couch material called Alcantara like it's the best thing since leather was invented.
I don't think a lot of people realize that it's NOT leather or the flesh side of the leather hide called Suede. It's literally polyester and polyurethane. I don't like cheap polyester suits nor polyester in my car.

The new m340 just like the x3m40i has an exhaust system very similar to the mppsk kit that was available for the f3x 340 and 440. I love it on my f32 440 and think it will be a perfect fit for the character of the m340

He was comparing the M340i to the M2C. Obviously the 340 has more space. These 2 models should be priced pretty closely.

Considering it's already the most controversial M and series BMW has ever put out doesn't bode well. The G series (if true) will make Fgens obtainable at bargain basement pricing.

This also means the G80 M3 is going to be 500ish HP. It's got to be positioned between the 340 and the M5.

Pretty crazy! As long as the G80 comes in manual this is looking like a pretty easy decision when my M3 lease is up!
Why would it plummet in value any more than a last gen car? The new model is supposed to be better

3.5 is not happening imo. The new C43 has similar HP (385) and more peak torque and managed 4.1 0-60 and 12.6 at 111 1/4 mile. The 340 may be somewhat lighter but improvements from 4.1 to 3.5 are not the same as going from 6.5 to 6.0. My guess is we may see a 4.0-4.1 with this car which really is great but what I am really more interested in is to see if this will trap close to 115. My guess is no but we may see 112-113 which would be still be really good for this middle trim Car.
You are most likely right, but somehow I have a strong feeling this will be a sub 4 sec car....when BMW itself quotes 4.2. Lets wait and watch

You're definitely correct that 3.5 is not happening, but I would expect it to be able to hit 3.9 for places like C&D and R&T. That's similar to what they did with the M5 (advertised number of 3.2 and C&D and R&T were able to hit 2.8). They like that type of press and have been doing it a lot in the last couple of years with all their cars, not just the M cars. Even if it's just barely under 4.0 at 3.99999 that'll make headlines across all major publishers. Based on everything I've heard/read about it and what they've been doing with the advertised numbers compared to the actual numbers in their recent history, I would expect they'll do it with this one, too. And, let's face it, BMW needs the press to not only love this 3 Series but declare it the true benchmark in the category again. The competition is strong right now.

I'd certainly expect the new M3 to do a 3.5.
Agree completely

Exactly it's just made in a factory and has a fancy marketable name.

I'm an all leather guy. Yes it is treated in a factory but it is a natural material. I can tolerate Alcantara as a headliner that's all.
